Right, one more pointless post for today then I'm off home. How about a good cheese debate. One of my fave foods with my top three being (in no particular order):
1. Goats Cheese 2. Stilton 3. Cheddar (must be strongly flavoured and mature)
I'll be interested to see how the choices vary around the globe. I am especially looking forward to Cheeseman1000's favourites (I'll be very disappointed if he announces that he doesn't like cheese!)

1. Welsh Red Dragon 2. Leicester 3. Blue Maytag 4. Good Cheddar (strong or not, love it all - though tear-inducing is very good)

LBF, is 'American' allowed? My memory is hazy from my time in the US but is there an actual cheese called thus? |

Yeah, but it's not real cheese--it's a "pasteurized cheese product." It comes in packages of individually wrapped slices that look like orange plastic. Tastes great on grilled cheese sandwiches, though.

Yeah, there is. It's orange and generally wrapped individually.
Okay, Sarah beat me to it. Damn cheese whore. |

It figures that this would be our national contribution to the cheese world, huh?

On that note, Velveeta scares the pants off me.

My brother says that at the factory where he works, ladies are always bringing in batches of Velveeta fudge. Apparently, it doesn't taste at all like cheese, just like regular fudge but with an eerily smooth consistency. Blecch.
I always thought that Velveeta would be a good name for a southern child or pet.

For the past month, I've been eating a lot of chevre, sliced & laid flat in a container, then sprinkled w/ diced garlic and fresh rosemary leaves, then doused in olive oil. After it sits for an hour its about perfect w/ a good baguette, and a hearty red wine. |

Are we talking 'Gruyere' here for choice nr 2? If yes, then excellent on Norwegian rye crackers |

I think Johnny Yen's pretty much got it right as far as my tastes are concerned...
Goat's cheese + baguette + red wine = cheesey-snack heaven |

Right, the anticipation is over...
1) A high quality Cheddar, preferably Welsh 2) Stilton with apricot 3) Smoked Red Leicester 4) Buffalo Mozzarella 5) Cheesecake (just kidding)
Actually, my nickname came from eating the little packs of Pick'n'Mix cheese you can get from Sainsbury's, in my lunch box at school. I have fond memories of Ryvita with Primula, smoked ham sausage cheeses, mini Babybels...
BTW, is American cheese the rank stuff in a McD's "cheese" burger? If so, I don't think that really qualifies as cheese, does it?

Yeah, if that's the case i agree with Cheeseman, i mean that's like calling their burgers 'beef'. |

Hmmm...I have to say that I am a little disappointed Mr Cheeseman. I was hoping for a diet substantially formed from :
Swaledale Old Peculier
Tiskey Meadow
Vacherin Mont D'or

Sorry to disappoint you, barney. I do like a bit of crumbly Northern cheese, e.g. Wensleydale or Lancashire, but nothing too unusual. However, I find your suggestion for a sustained cheese-n-beer diet extremely appealing.
