i recently audio extracted some songs from disc 1 and compared them to the regular release versions and noticed there is a HUGE difference in loudness? are these "death to the pixies" mixes remastered/volume pumped up or is JUST the volume pumped up to 21st century ridiculous levels?
there was another thread about this.essentialy what it said is that the songs are not remastered but had the volume changed in order to sound all equally loud cause volumes where different from album to album

also, there is a lot more "thump" in the surfer rosa and dolittle songs. they have to have messed with the bass as well which makes me think they had to have done something other then just raise the volume.

I think they basically took what sourced was used for the current CDs and changed the volume and applied an EQ to all of it to even it out.. remasters usually begin at the original master tapes..
