Does Jane skip at :29 for anyone else? I'm just trying to figure out if my copy is the only one that skips just that once.

Nope, doesn't do that for me.
But that reminds me of a question I've had for a while... on Pistolero, during "I Love Your Brain", there is a kind of skip (a momentary lapse of sound) towards the end of the song (i'm not sure about the exact time, i would have to check.) I thought it might just be my own copy of Pistolero, but I tested a different disc and heard the exact same indiscrepancy. It sounds almost like a skip, but is more just a momentary cut-off of sound that I'm thinking has to do with the production of the actual physical cd.
Anyone else know what i'm talking about?

Actually, if i remember correctly, there are two of these little hiccup/skips towards the end of the track, not too far from one another.

Yes! I thought mine was the only one with the screwup, although if you listen carefully, you can hear the same glitch in the streaming MP3 on the Cooking Vinyl website.
When I heard that before I received my disc, I figured it was just an encoding/internet goof, but it is very obviously a problem with the master or source. Bummer, too.
Wasn't this a radio show as well? Did anyone record this off the radio when it was first broadcast? If so, was that glitch there at that time?
I'm surprised they let it go out like that, as to my ears it's really glaring.
Another question - why on earth did they clip the first part of Los Angeles for this EP? If there was a problem with it, why not just use another song instead? That's really dumb. 2/3 of a song...

No glitches in my recording of that show, and I do have the full Los Angeles and there seems no reason to clip the intro to me. They play Cold Heart of Stone right before so it's not a rights thing, and the transition is just plain sexy.

"yes there's a glitch," "no there's no glitch" what gives? Are some copies just flawed? We must get to the bottom of this. Is it possible the glitch is there and some people are just not hearing it?
Also, is the full radio show available somewhere? I would love to hear the rest of the tracks as the ones on Nadine are beautiful. Can it be put on the FTP?
I just thought that was how they began Los Angelas that time now you're telling me there's more? bastards! I'll learn them to hold out on me!

Sorry, I should've mentioned that I don't have the EP (yet) but my recordings are actually from the CBC. You can download them from justconcerts.ca but they can't go on the FTP since these tracks are commercially available.

When you say "download" do you mean with special software and/or ability. All I see at the site is a RealAudio "play" link, no mp3s for download. Am I interpreting this correctly? If it is set up only for RealAudio play, do you know what it would take to get the thing as individual mp3s on a Mac? Thanks. |

Sorry, you're correct. It's actually a stream. I happened to convert it to individual MP3s, but forgot. For you, if your sound card has a recording suite, you can probably record "What You Hear", splice to individual MP3s, and go from there. Or send me an email, and I might be able to help you.

YES my copy of Pistolero does that too! I'm glad that i'm not alone. I bought my CD about 3 years ago it was factory sealed btw so i knew it wasn't from fingerprints or dust. Near the end of I Love Your Brain (and a bit of the intro to Smoke Up) theres a little glitch and a few 'clicking noises'.
Should i buy another copy? I don't know now... |

Thanks for clearing that up CoF. How much do the tracks cost? I don't know how to convert from stream to mp3, is there a way to get the mp3s while still paying for them? In other words, if I buy the tracks and can prove it can someone out there send me the mp3s simply for convenience?

Thanks for the feedback and for the offer of help. I'll pass for now, in hopes that eventually this entire show becomes more accessible for download. Until then my Nadine b-sides will suffice. |
