Some mistake surely! SMYT at #9?

Here's what you meant to write:

1 Teenager of the year
2 Dog in the Sand
3 Show me your tears
4 Frank Black
5 Black letter days
6 Devil's Workshop
7 Pistolero
8 FB+Cs
9 Cult of Ray

I can't believe some of you are putting SMYT in the number 9 !! I think it is the most complet album since TOTY !! Maybe someone can not like its style, but surely it is a record that you can listen from the start to the end having a great time. It doesn't happen actually with Pistolero or Cult of Ray !!

baby, that's art

i can't believe the over abundance of lists with teenager of the year as #1
-i think i have listened to it too much and i just don't have the reverance for it
i once had -if an album has a high ranking status in my mind then i will play it more.
and frankly his earlier stuff is a little much keyboardy and studio sounding
for my current tastes. his style of sound makes you love that noisy guitar right up front
and although his first two solos are good they don't come near guitar wise what's going on in
the catholics' first through fourth releases (devils' workshop being the fourth)
and formy money i'll take that feedback and hum over cheesy keyboards any day.

yea i know...it's a tuff subject for me as i actually like that era
of his work a lot but i do think i kind of bite the bullet on some
of those keyboard sounds -it's just me i'm sure to some degree -
and time -if you handed the man the same songs now he'd have steel guitar
and a different keyboard sound or some plain old piano instead or-
who knows. either way it's a minor beef to be sure.

...mmmm...

i just like the amount of textures he uses on his solo and catholics stuff in general, whether it be cheesy keyboards or harmonica. go figure.

I agree entirely. In fact I've changed my mind, Teenager goes around 7-8 on my list now.

Semper ubi sub ubi.

TOTY, for me, is number one for a few reasons:

Its length alone is one of them. Another is that I feel that it is the strongest album in terms of songs....there is never a "dip" in the album, I can actually listen to the whole thing with undiminished excitement beginning to end. I just think the songs are very richly written and recorded....don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the live-to-2 track method that the Catholics have damn near perfected, and Pistolero is another one of my favorites for that reason--rawness of sound and just the overall AWESOMENESS of the songs on it.

But I consider Teenager to be a masterpiece...plus, I prefer Frank's older style over the newer country-tinged sound. But, shit, I love all the albums and I think "rating" them in order is a little too cut and dry anyhow, so fuck it!
