I played DITS today for the first time in a while.... what a cracking album. I thought that SMYT was better, but now I am having second thoughts. DITS is a fucking cool album.
I also listened to David Bowie Inside album today, the first song is very good (haven't got the cd handy and am not familiar with the names of the songs yet).

are ima robot good? i had a chance to see them in LA at a promo show in Amoeba Records, but i was a little late. i saw them signing stuff at the end, but as i'd missed them and i didn't know any of their stuff i didn't go up. i think i have one of their songs on a magazine compilation. is it very electronic?(its not a pun, i listened to it once and got that impression)

I'm really liking Ima Robot, it's a little on the silly side, but i can appreciate that, and the production and musicianship is tip-top.
I've got Rufus's new album too, gave it one spin so far, it's definitely Rufus..heh |

I posted a comment here about Ima Robot a couple weeks ago and no one seemed to care. :( (Well, maybe Dave did.) That song Dynomite rules. |

The Gun Club "Fire of Love" LP...
To hell with the White Stripes, Gun Club did this stuff over twenty years ago, and didn't need those silly outfits. |

It was a "comment on late night talk-show musical guests" thread; no one responded to it, so I deleted it. I was so carried away w/ how good Ima Robot's performance on the Late Show w/ Dave Letterman was that I had to say something, so I created the thread with that ulterior motive in mind. :) Anyway, I was really impressed with the song, the band's musicianship... even the frontman's Robert Plant-esque posturing. In the thread I compared the immediacy of their appeal to that of the White Stripes when they made their first appearance on Letterman approx 2 years ago.
On a Beck-related sidenote, I'm pretty sure I saw our very own Lyle Workman hamming it up during the end credits of an old SNL episode yesterday or the day before. |

Ahh..vaguely remember that CK.. I think the band is composed of veteran rockers, so it sorta makes sense they'd make a good impression, and their songs are sorta 'one-offs', that do well by themselves..where you have a band like At The Drive-In on, and they'll sound like shit to the average listener because you don't know where the hell they're coming from, which i think is important..make sense? |

Hmm... the one song I've heard of At The Drive-In (I'm not too hip when it comes to newer bands) did sound kind of whacked out song-structure wise and not especially fit to be a single, while Dynomite sounds almost tailor-made for radio. Is this what you're referring to? Anyway, I'll have to get back to you after I actually hear the Ima Robot album. |

Frank Black - Dog In The Sand. I really got into Mr. Black a while ago (saw him live twice in 2001 I think though), I bought "Pistolero" two weeks ago and last week I found the orange album and DITS in a second hand store (15 € for the two)... and I must say I'm very very impressed by the latter... I also must say it took me a few listens to appreciate the Greatness of it, just as it did for "Pistolero" and the orange one... although I think the orange one isn't as good as the two others, but it's still a nice album.
End of rant.

Great song, and the hammed-up voice turns heads when you listen to it with others around.
