I do tend to use FB (and the pixies) as a litmus test. Although my own tastes are very eclectic (ranging from early Napalm Death to Gillian Welch, and Crass to Crowded House)I'm a complete musical snob and a self-confessed asshole with it.
It's all really a croc, our own personal tastes come down to individual socialisation or our struggle against it. And although I can rationalise that, when the humour takes me I could still execute most of today's chart "artistes" with no sense of guilt whatsoever.
Actually I'd quite enjoy filleting Brian Mc Fadden and feeding him to the rest of Westlife untill they choked on his gristle. |

120 Minutes was great.. I have something like 6 VHS tapes filled with random videos from the show. Every so often I'll pop one in and I have a little nostalgia trip.
I believe I have one episode with FB.. right about the time Cult Of Ray came out. He plays The Last Stand of Shazeb Andleeb and him and Matt Pinfield compare bald heads.
M2 used to be great as well, but MTV just decided to use it as a place to actually play videos and now it's filled with Ja Rule or whatever. Ah well, most of the bands I dig hardly bother to make videos at all anymore.

The best thing I can say about Bush and Gavin Rossdale is they haven't made a record in about 5 years. I genuinely hope it stays that way. Although when they do record a new one, I'm sure they will continue to rip off the snare sound from Sufer Rosa. Thanks Mr. Albini. Please, no more records "just for the money".

Sorry if this ruins your day, but I don't think this is true. I remember hearing they had to hold off on a record release to change a song title after the World Trade Center incident, which wasn't quite 5 years ago. I don't think I ever heard the song though, does anyone know if this actually got released? I'm sure it was Bush.....

It really winds me up when people derive their taste in music from what they believe to be the latest fashion as dictated by the media. The way people w*nk over The White Stripes! Don't get me wrong, I like their music, but listening to some people you'd think Jack White had personally invented the blues.
Bugger, I'm going off on one now.
It all comes back to the media, and the record industry wanting to dictate what people listen to - they only want us to listen to stuff that makes them money. Hence the dislike of mp3s. MP3 swapping is not killing music, it's enlivening the very music the industry wants dead.
I will not go out and buy an album from an artist I don't know. All they play on the radio is sh*t, so the only way I can get to hear good new music is to try some mp3's from a friend. If I like them, I buy the album. End result, the record company's marketing dollar is worthless, they have no control over what I listen to, as I will choose for myself.

| What are you talking about? Most bands within the last ten years SUCK! Sure I'm a snob for GOOD music! 120 minutes debuted on MTV 1 and the only one 15 years ago. I saw the pixies on there in 1990! |
