I think they're planning to open the first ever Krispy Kreme in the UK in the near future. Should I give it a go?

Oh hell yes! Go really hungry and really early, like 4AM, when a fresh batch has been made - good after a night of concerts and drinking, or during a long road trip...:)

Bet they won't be open at 4am here! Remember also that they've got to compete with the UK's national post beer food....chips, curry, kebabs. I think savoury beats sweet.

Life isn't complete until you've tried a Krispy Kreme. You can even make a game of it...see how many you and your friends can eat before someone pukes...first person to puke gets punched in the gut. I can easily eat 4 in a row...6 is my limit.

Well, I'm posting from the hospital in Ypsilanti. Seems that Jim's gang turned out to be just that: a gang of Dean-hating hooligans. I took half of them out before they got me, but the other 52 were just too many. I have a bent fingernail and a little internal bleeding underneath it turning it purple as well as a stubbed toe and sore eyebrow, but the doctors expect a full recovery. Thankfully, I do have one good piece of news to report: I managed to try a Krispy Kreme. Quite delightful. In fact I tried four and made it my dinner for the night. Ah, the Greeks. The 'kreme' filled ones definitely won out as my favourites, although even the original glazed and so forth were quite delectable. Best donuts I've had, I must say, though quite a trip to get them.

As for the rest of the trip, all was well. I actually spent most of my time in Ann Arbor and/or driving Detroit and not really getting out. I got invited by a girl on the plane in to come check out the Michigan/State game with her, which was probably the highlight of my trip. That is to say, the asking. I got her number and everything even, but it just didn't end up happening. Very cool girl though, a nurse at the mayo clinic. Unfortunately, when I asked her about the outfit, as she was still in her work scrubs, she didn't say that they are O.R. scrubs thus giving me a chance to fulfill my lifelong dream of saying "O R they?"

Wanted to check out the Henry Ford and Greenfield village, but didn't do that either. No real reports, only one Asian woman who was really shy and sadly had know discernable connection to donuts. More real details later if I can think of some to make up... :)

i'm glad you see the light on the creme-filled ones. undoubtedly the best ones.

by the way, what is the "mayo clinic"?

mmmmmmm. mayo.

yeah, i have a strong opposition to scrubs. they do aboslutely nothing to show off a woman's body. i know, it's professional clothing blah blah.. but come on.. do they have to be that un-sexy? you can take the worlds most beautiful woman (ie. Jennifer Connelly), put her in some scrubs, and she'll look like your overweight aunt (don't we all have one?).

why can't they have like miniskirt scrubs? or, at least scrubs that are a bit more snug fitting? anything.. look at flight attendants.. waitresses, nurses (oooooh yeah. nurses uniforms.. yes please).. why scrubs?

anyway, don't get me started. my ex-girlfriend was a dental-assistant and i used to hate those things..

glad you got to try a krispy kreme..

oh yeah, if you could have pulled off the "oh are they?" line, that would have been highly suave.

RUSHMORE is probably my favorite movie of the past 5 years or so.. got a framed poster of it in my apartment.

Glad you enjoyed Michigan. You were in Ypsilanti also? That's on the other side of the state! I told you KK were the best...you got em fresh, didn't you?

Isn't Ypsilanti just east of Ann Arbor? Kalamazoo is on the other side of the state.

Floop, the Mayo clinic is a pretty well known hospital which I think is famous mostly for it's complete checkups. They check everything about you very thoroughly, screening for all sorts of stuff in every system of your body. I'd actually heard of it before up here in Canada and that was how I started the conversation. Rushmore is a hilarious movie, though interestingly enough I didn't even like it the first time.

Ypsilanti is just east of Ann Arbor, unless there's another one. I've noticed you guys seem to be running a bit short of street/city names down there. How many Rochesters are there? Really?

Thanks for the KK heads-up, all, they were good stuff. The chocolate malted ones were pretty tasty, there was another one I liked way better though with the same sort of topping, but I can't remember what it was called...
