This may have been asked elsewhere, Totipotent, but are you still in Iraq?

yes, I am still here and kickin' Thanks for asking. today, 12 September 2003, (your tomorrow) is my 165th day away from my home land. Hey, for all of you friendly chicks out there, do not worry about sending me those photos I asked for several months ago, due to the fact that I shall return home shortly and will not be here to receive mail.

Totipotent, what part of Iraq are you based in? What's it like out there? Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just a little interested as my step brother was out there but the little bugger doesn't have access to email.

I am in the wonderful city of Baghdad. I am an integral part of Baghdad International Airport. Without my crew and myself, humanitarian relief would not arrive, dignitaries/UN would not be able to travel, hell, actions would only be limited to military and some of those actions would question the safety of the planes and crews without my team.
I am now seeing the start of fall, my last season to see of the four, we have lost a lot of day light, 3-4 hours worth, due to the season change. I am educated in Entomology and Botany, and the unique fauna and flora are a very pleasant sight. If I did not have any pressing goals, I would love to stay and work here for some time to come, but I think 6 months is enough.
I hope that your brother is doing well, is able to communicate more often and is going to return home soon - mind you that he may return or even go somewhere else, later. The deal with Iraq and Afghanistan with our troops stationed here is going to last 5 to 10 years or more. So I know that I have to take advantage of my time at home because I can be right out the door in less than a year again. That’s it for now.

Cheers for the response Totipotent. My stepbro is no longer out there, but I know the British are looking to increase their numbers in Iraq, so maybe he'll be called back.... who knows. He's only 17, far too young to be in such a place in my opinion.
Do you get to meet the Iraqi people much, and if so how do they feel about you guys being there? Take care mate, and look after yourself!

Well I cannot speak for the Iraqi populous but the few that I have run into (contractor's doing odd jobs like clearing fields of trash and vegetation, barber, stockperson at our base exchange, trash pickup and sewage pick up, vendor) say and show that we (the coalition forces) are single handedly jumpstarting their economy. Hell, we buy their money with our money as a souvenir and for what? It is just a picture on paper that is going to be transitioned out soon. It will probably still be called the Dinar, though. I am highly optimistic for this country this decade and this region in the distant future.

Thanks for caring PixieSteve! I sleep very well, but you may know as well as I know that a lot of people have sleeping problems (snoring, apnea, insomnia, etc.) I do not understand why half these people have these problems. I think it has something to do with being out of shape, smoking, drinking, sleeping in the wrong position, bad sleep schedule, monster, goblins, guilty conscience, you know. You know, when I think about it, I do have trouble sleeping a night when I have to work through the night to make the mission happen and successful, but I think that suits me fine. I know what tomorrow brings.

No I think apnea is when you don't breath right when you sleep and you keep waking yourself up or at least out of REM. |

Does anyone here feel the ground shaking when they sleep?? Sometimes this happens to me, and the only answer I have for it is Chinese green tea making my heart beat faster... when I am almost asleep the heartbeat gives me the feeling of the ground shaking as I am not totally conscious.
or am I just fucking weird?

Is "fround" some wierd British word, or is it just that you're in China that your typing is so bad? Just kidding; I guess if your typing skills are bad so are my reading skills for interpreting "twatwipe" as "twatpipe."
