A review on the Logo magazine online site:

by Mia Clarke. No rating, but I think we can assume that it is five out of five!:
After disbanding The Pixies in the early-nineties, frontman Frank Black (aka Black Francis) went on to release a string of material under his own name, eventually gathering together a select group of like-minded musicians to form The Catholics. Recorded live in the studio, ‘Show Me Your Tears’ glistens with raw diamond tracks that shimmer closely around Black's distinctive, flexible vocals. Songs such as 'My Favourite Kiss' and 'Massif Centrale' show The Catholics at their best- the musicianship is stunning, with instruments dipping and folding over one another like liquid velvet. It takes a few listens to peel off the layers, but the rewards are many. The production sounds glossy, but was in fact recorded on just two tracks, which is a fantastically punk rock approach to making an album. Most obviously, it has a very 'Californian' sound, recorded in L.A., and you can tell. Steel guitars played with bottle necks, dreamy harmonica and delicate piano all find a home in the mix and make for an album that sparkles with sunshine, behind the clouds.
