Hi, I thought I'd be polite and introduce myself before I start posting lots of things everywhere (which is a strong possibility considering my records on other forums )
So yes, hello

By putting this thread in the correct general chat forum (unlike quite a few other members), you have already made a good impression.

Thank for the nice welcome, I'm sure I will enjoy my stay. Although it may take me some time to get to grips with the size of this place

Whassup, MrFeech.
This is one of the first few forums I have ever been on. Is it really that big compared to other forums? The Blade Runner forum I am on (yes, I know that is dorky) has only like, 20 or 30 members, whereas this one I think has over a thousand.
Quantum nonlocality does not prove that "signals" travel "faster than light." Rather, it shows that at a deep level of reality the speed of light as a limiting factor is irrelevant because phenomena are instantaneously connected regardless of distance. |

Well I've not been on many, but this one (in terms of different little mini forums) has got way more. I usually just use a couple of Eels boards, and they've only got 2 and 4 forums respectively.

This one tends to be somewhat slow...I've seen MUCH worse. However, I visit the site at least 3 times a day (breakfast, evening, night). I've gotten to the point where I ignore certain topics. That's the best way to go about it so you're not so overwhelmed.

No, you should be reading each and every message.
Start at the top each time, and read down. The whole way. Keep an eye open for the 'Next Page' links, you don't want to miss anything important.
And welcome.
Seems like a lot of new folks are saying 'hi'.. Should i set up a seperate 'hi' area, that the rest of us can ignore and the new folks can sit around and say hi to each other? |

I just went ahead and rudely jumped into the middle of a topic when I came on board a couple months ago. Fuck all this namby-pamby "hi" bullshit. And I recall taking speedy m a little bit too seriously...
I guess jumping in is the best way to do it. I normally just flit around from topic to topic, unless there seems to be a conversation amongst a few individuals (like in the henhouse, although I did post on that...) in which case I normally only post if I have something pertinent to say. Otherwise, I don't worry too much about what topic I'm on. I like serious threads sometimes, like the "Napalm in Iraq -- Part 2" and other times pointless, fun topics like "Cooking Hamburgers." (Which, for awhile, got pretty darn serious...lots of name-calling and analogies to nazis and the like...) |

I can't remember my first post..... must be almost a year ago now (19th Sept 2002 I think), when was this forum started??? I have no idea what my first post was.... probably something like 'wow a new Frank Black forum,' or something wankish like that.

Are we going to have an Anniversary party? We could all get drunk and post or something...on second thought I think some people are already drunk. |

yes dave, definitely just make a forum for people to introduce themselves so the rest of us never have to see it.
also, this forum is tiny. |

You should take a gander on the Skid Row.net forum... for some reason I had a look there last night and saw lots of threads where people were just bitching about whether the Skids have lost it or not.... there were lots of 'fuck you and post somewhere else' lines. Quite amusing.

I can't believe how fast posts add up. I don't know if it's alot, but I'm at near 150 since like, two months ago or so. Truthfully, I don't visit the other forums I've registered on since the beginning of my "forum phase," but I always check this one at least two times a day. It's become part of my routine. I go to my Computer Art II class MWF 9:00-9:50. Usually I get to class a little bit early, and make a post or two. Then, I get out of my classes at noon, and check it again, and then go to work at 4 or 5 p.m. Since I work at a restaurant, I can't check it there, but when I get off I normally spend at least an hour or two posting. Is this unhealthy?
Honestly, I just think it is a cool forum. There are definitely some cool people on it, and it is amazing to me that you can just post about whatever bullshit crosses your mind. I probably should post more on the Frank Black section of the forum, but the General Chat is more interesting, usually. |

This forum is cool. I generally don't spend alot of time on the internet, or didn't until I found this place. I guess this is the place I always viusit first when I get online, not just to check out FB stuff but also to chat about various other topics. In fact I am like you whereby I post mainly in the General Chat section.... I guess there is only so much you can chat about Frank Black without becoming like an obsessed fan. But it's great to get the latest news. On the 8th Day was a great website but 1) it didn't have a forum, and 2) it was rarely updated with news. Here you get it when it comes in, and you get to make friends / talk shit to people around the world. Also, you get to see Britney sticking her tongue in Madonnas mouth, which is priceless!

Introducing ones self is standard netiquette, a practice sorely missed. But the lack of eitquette on the net mirrors a general lack of etiquette in society i guess.
<sigh> Welcome, Mr Feech.

Didja know that they're going to take the warning off of those things? I guess that it's tough to move merchandise when it carries a warning that it may cause "anal leakage," but it seems worse to not even warn the poor bastards who buy it of what awaits them.
Oh yeah, and welcome, Mr. Feech! |

I think they've taken that off already, maybe in certain markets! I was giving somebody some shit about that, and said, in a very motherly voice "Why, don't you know that stuff causes what they term 'anal leakage'? It says so right on the bag in the fine print" and when I picked up the bag to triumphantly show that a food vendor actually used the term "anal leakage" on their product, it was gone and I was somewhat deflated as I limply said "Well, uh, it used to say that. Really. Honest."

And good point Veronica...it is kinda nice how people used to introduce themselves. Maybe i should set up an area for intro's? At least for those who want to use it? Or just let 'em post here?
Sadly, i sometimes get caught up in the negative aspects of these days, and forget to harbor and encourage the good ones... |
