So anyway since I voiced the idea of making a tradition out of posting a link to a recommended band; just by way of getting a taste of some new music.
But since the thread got buried, I thought I'd kick off with The Dirty Three - a band composed mostly of Nick Cave's allies; The Bad Seeds. In the same cacophonous and yet melodical way you can imagine Nick tooling along to them on piano in places. Anyhoo, I find their music evocative of the more extreme places in the country genre.
Enough stalling, here's the link & I hope you enjoy... http://www.artistdirect.com/music/artist/card/0,,534193,00.html
NB The FB link here is that both FB & Nick Cave appear on the albumn 'SONGS IN THE KEY OF X: MUSIC FROM AND INSPIRED BY 'THE X-FILES', so there you go!

The Dirty Three are so so so good: Steve Albini produced "Ocean Songs" - great work. BUT their best work I find (for an intro): "Whatever You Love, You Are". Great driving music. Another favorite new band for the author. It is just 3 guys, drums, guitar and violin.
