Welcome black from the backout...no...welcome blackout from the back...no...welcome back from the blackout. Who amongst us lost power? I'm sure my family in southeast Michigan did. My power here in State College, PA flickered around 4:15 (the AC slowed down as if it were shutting off, then went back to normal. I didn't think anything of it until I heard about the blackout later).

So much for your 'survive a nuclear war' theory... :)

The Crumbling Infa-structure strikes again! I get a kick out of how the first thing most reports started with was,"This does not seem to be a result of a terrorist attack..." This administration really seems to just love making folks paranoid. Anyone catch Dubya on the news? His speaking skills only show he has absolutely no clue.

Every interview I saw with someone in NY started with their admission that at first thought they assumed it was terror related. I am no fan of the media, but, they would have been remiss if they didnt address the first assumption that those in the mess made. I dont know how that has anything to do with the administration though.

Come on, if your in a subway in NY and EVERYTHING powers down, you cant see a thing, confusion everywhere, maybe some panicky riders, etc., dont you think terrorism would pass through your mind?

I have read that the answer to your question is no Carolynanna. But, since there hasnt been a real explanation I wonder how anything can be ruled out.

Well, the west coast is no better. California runs such a power deficit that it gets a large portion from British Columbia. I don't remember what the story is with Oregon and Washington (I think Oregon has a fair amount of generating capability - nuclear as well, if I recall, though they are slowly being shut down), but nevertheless, that whole area is almost as critical as the east coast. Engineers have been saying this for a long time, but politicians don't get off their asses until something really big happens. It could cost them votes.

I was at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, OH.. left the park after we heard it was a multistate problem.. took forever.. baked in the sun for a while.. then had to wait in Sandusky because someone in our group needed gas to get home.. but no stations worked of course.

Oh, and how many of you can honestly say the first thought that came to your mind wasn't "Was this terrorism?" You know you thought it. The gov'ment done brainwashed us good.

Quite a week for technology and power - first with the worm and then this massive black out. I understand the confusion, chaos and anxiety the blackout caused - but I think we as a Nation (the US that is) are so spoiled and impatient. We want everything NOW NOW NOW, and we want it SUPER SIZED. I don't know what I am saying other than, we are pretty damn lucky most of the time, so many other people have no power, or lose it for months at a time.

Okay, ramble done!
