The band not the organization - I've heard people mention them on this forum, i've seen pictures of 'em, I've read the lyrics to some of their songs (which were good) and it's a great name for a band HOWEVER I've never heard any of their songs.

What do they sound like?

Exactly like Joy Division, apparently. They don't impress me at all.

I like them quite a bit, very moody, tinged with dark, and orchestral. Granted I haven't heard Joy Division, but a good song is a good song, though if it were clear piracy that would be another matter.

If you're familiar with Broken Social Scene, there are a few parallels there, but I wouldn't say that they sound exactly the same by any stretch.

Cheers El Barto and Cult Of Frank!...I think I'm gonna have to weight for a few more opinions before I risk my hard-earned (kind'of) money.

Why don't you just pick a song or two and check them out that way? Download NYC and maybe Roland, and if you like those, you should definitely dig the CD and pick it up and if you don't, well, delete the songs and curse me in your mother tounge. I don't think there's anything wrong with downloading for this purpose... but I suppose that's also just my opinion.

Scarla, the Interpol record is a safe bet. Very strong from start to finish, no song to skip at all. Yes, there are shades of Joy Division in some of the songs, but it's not fair to say the JD cornered the market on that type of moodiness and no one else is allowed to use it. It's just a fantastic record. I heard NYC and was sold instantly. Don't listen to Jim. Have you seen how many FB songs he hates?

Thanks Cult Of Frank - I certainly would download some of their songs but I don't have the internet at home...I just abuse the internet on my work computer :)

Cheers Speedy M, you've almost swung me!

They took a little bit to grow on me. Like all good music, it unfolds and reveals itself over time, like a blooming flower.

They ARE worth your time.

I disliked that they were o.k. - you know? Nothing special except weak vocals if i remember correctly (it has been a while since i exposed myself to their stuff), and weak songs. It did not move me in any way - thus i figured i had better ways of spending my time than by giving it time. It might be wrong to compare - but if I remember correctly - they had a little bit of the same feel (not sound) as Ikara Colt - who I think crush them mercilessly under foot. However - i regret posting my disliking of them. Music should be spoken of by people who enjoy it.

I had to see it to beleive it, they had a live show aired on MTV before I heard how Joy Divisiony they were, and I could'nt get over how much the led singers voice sounded like Ian Curtis's, along with the same style bass and guitars but with abit more umfff! Their playing here this month. I dont think thier a complete waste of time and might check them out.

PDA is a cool tune. The thing about them that I dislike is that their songs aren't all that diverse. The album got old real fast for me.
