I'm moving on August 8th up to State College. I'm losing the internet on August 4th or 5th. From then on, I don't know when I'll see the internet again (I've already enrolled in a 12 step program). There are two possible outcomes. Between the 8th and the 16th or 17th or so I'll be up in State College looking for a job. If I don't find a job there, I'll be coming back down to Shippensburg and staying with my sister and work at Pizza Slut a few days in the week, then go back to SC to continue my search, come back, wash rinse repeat. If I stay with my sister, I'll have access to the net. If I find a job in SC, I'll order digital cable + internet. Either way, I won't be visiting 3 times a day like I do now. It fucking sucks and I'll miss you all. Hopefully I'll find a job soon (I *NEED* TO, don't these businesses understand that some people HAVE TO WORK?) so I can get back here. Maybe that week in SC I'll find a place with public internet access.

Thanks everybody. Just out of curiosity...maybe those with experience...maybe I'm just rationalizing with myself in my head over why I should have a chance of getting a good/decent job. Do you think, going into this huge college town, that a non-student like me would have a better chance finding a full time job? I mean, all the kids will be coming back to school yes, but they'll be in school...how many will actually be working? I know from working at Pizza Hut that we get students during the summer and throughout the year, but a lot of people leave in August to go back to school. What do you all think? Like, what the fuck am I supposed to do...I can't *NOT* work, you know? I have bills to pay and no other obligations in my life other than to work. Fucking world.

it's a painful memory for me, but i used to work at Pizza Slut myself, when i was a wee lad. delivering pizzas.
i can't tell you how many times people said, "hey, is that for ME? heh heh.." when i'd be delivering a pizza to someone else - thinking they were very funny.
it was nice eating free pizza and not claiming my tips though..

Haha, when I delivered, I vaguely recall getting that joke...fuckers! But seriously, pizza delivery drivers do make good money. On average you can make around/at least $10 an hour hourly + tips. I made some good money. However, I don't want to deliver in State College. I don't know the town at all for one, for two it's a big town, for three it's intimidating, considering I'm very antisocial. The tips were fucking nice though...and yes, the free food is great.

yeah, i would think they'd be the worst. tips were always so random. sometimes someone living in a shitty place would give a nice tip and someone with a really nice house wouldn't tip at all. i actaully had someone say "wait a second" and go back in the house (presumably to get money for a tip) and bring me 15 cents and a few pennies. i was like, are you serious?
the best thing about that job was delivering pizza to scantily-clad housewives..
many a fantasy was played out in my head doing that job. . (unfortunately none of them came to fruition) ..
it is decent, easy money when you're a young lad..
i've literally had every shit job you can name. |

mostly I touch shrimp, scallops, mussels, clams, tuna, salmon, halibut, hot dishes, half eaten food, scum in the dishwasher..
