I ran into J Mascis recently outside a concert venue in a small New England town and asked him a couple of questions. Our brief conversation went like this:
The Big Galoof: "Are you here to see the show?"
J Mascis: (nods very slowly)
TBG: "You know, there's a guy on the internet who's impersonating you?"
JM: (smiles) "Really?"
TBG: "Yeah, much to the amusement of a lot of Frank Black fans."
JM: (smiles faintly)
TBG: (points accusingly) "It wasn't you, was it?"
JM: "Nope."
I saw him again after the show, walking down the street, holding a pretty woman's hand.
Now, I realize that OUR J Mascis hasn't posted here in a long while, but if he'd like to respond to or refute my story, all he has to do is provide a couple of details - like where we met and what show we were there to see.
Otherwise, let this stand as the final word on this topic.

That's hilarious! I love that you actually asked him about it.
If only he'd pulled out his Jazzmaster and gone "wheedly-wheedly-weehdly-WAHAWAHWAHAWWAAAAAAH." Then there could have been no doubt that he was OUR J. Mascis. |
