Definitely Frank... Charles is for his closer friends, I would assume. Or at least people who he knows somewhat. |

No, everyone close to him still calls him Charles. Frank Black is his stage name, and Jean Walsh (Thompson? something else now?) just plays along using the stage name Jean Black. |

leave it to "the moshers" to ruin the show for the rest of us. but i guess people like to show off. one time i saw him do a solo show in 1999 and at the end only my girlfriend and i were left in the bar and he came out to put his guitar away and talked to me for quite a while. he was extremely nice and even signed my advance copy of DITS at the time. he was amazed i had it already and talked for a bit. ryan |

i did read in some magazine that stephen malkmus approached frank backstage at a festival once to tell him what a big fan he was and frank said fuck off, can't you see i'm talking to my brother. this was in the gossip section of a magazine, probably the nme or melody maker, so i don't know if its true. i was about 8 or so years ago and i was a huge fan of pavement at the time, i was completely horrified that anyone could tell malkmus to fuck off.
ehehehehehehehe, i love pavement, sure, but that's hilarious. i'm sure it did malkmus good to hear a sincere fuck off. [still chortling at having read that]
