Am in a phase where I am downloading late 80's/early 90's rap songs - here are the highlights so far:
BABY GOT BACK by Sir Mix-a-lot DO ME & POISON by Bel Biv Devoe YOU SAY HE'S JUST A FRIEND by Biz Mark E THE HUMPTY DANCE by Digital Underground BUST A MOVE by YOUNG MC and my current favorite - I GOT A MAN by Positive K ("all I remember is an 'excuse me, miss', you can't get a girl like me with a line like this" - possibly my new signature!)
So, can anyone think of others I need/you like? Peace out, yo. |

holy crap! Bel Biv Devoe!!! Yes!!! Man, it's been a while. Bel Biv Devoe, now you know. That's gold.
I don't know much more in the way of cheesy late 80s/early 90's rap, but there are some essentials from the late ninties like
Method Man - Da Rockwilder, Judgement Day, Release Yo 'Delf that one that starts "I said a hip, hop, a hibby to the hibby to the hip hip hop and you don't stop". well, that one is actually from the 80s, but I don't remember who originally did it.
I don't know much hip hop, but that's a start. Word.
Oh and for "good" hip hop check out "rjd2". They made a pretty great record last year called Deadringer. I mean, it's no humpty dance, but....

I'm on a Public Enemy kick I guess. You'll have to include Don't Believe the Hype which actually isn't really cheesy. |

I dont know if you'd call it rap but Groove is in the Heart by Delight (Dlite?) is a great one to get down to. I loved Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice when I was a kid, tryin to be street yall! Kris Kros were great as well, not.

Yeah, one I didn't mention that I already downloaded is JUMP by Kris Kros (Warm it up, Chris - I'm about too! Warm it up, Chris - that's what I was born to do!). GROOVE IS IN THE HEART is a great song - love it! Thanks.
Think I am too scared of Vanilla Ice, although I must admit grooving to that song in Junior High. Yikes. |

Here is the cheesiest song ever, but I'm not sure of the name or who sings it but I'm pretty sure it was called Hey we want some pussy. I have a hard time even typing that. |

I remember that song! Still don't recall who it's by. I once acted with this guy who would start singing it right before I was supposed to go onstage and I would end up out there every night trying not to fall down laughing.
Tone Loc's Funky Cold Medina is plenty cheesy.
Public Enemy's Fight the Power kicks ass. |

I can't remember who did it, (somebody please help me), but it was this really mellow sounding music underneath the rap, whose main line was "Yo Mama" -- "Tell the president... Ya Mama, when you try to pay the rent, ya mama" "Tell your boss, Ya mama, Tell your mama, yo mama..." been looking for it for a long long time... |

LOOOVE Funky Cold Medena.
This thread is cracking me up. I like how everyone is just "singing" their songs trying to remember the names! That is what I did yesterday while downloading them. |

Just for a laugh you can get some cheesy gangsta rap like NWA-Straight outta compton. And I suppose somebody has to mention MC Hammer.
There was also that song by that androgenous looking girl and I think the song was called "move this"
I was listening to the university station the other day and they played this song that I remembered from pretty far back, its kinda reggae and its called Murder She Wrote, I love that song. |

didn't Mr. T put out some horrid rap album in the 80's? with some song about "Respect Yo Mama" or something?
Mind you, I never heard it. It's just hearsay...anyone else know more about this? |

Yes, but now I'm racking my brain trying to remember who were those guys that rapped, but when they sang they were purposefully horridly off key. their hit went "Youuuuuu, you got what I need, but you say he's just a friend, you say he's just a friend" and it sounded like the piano accompanient was a toy piano or a pianosaurus? |

Ooo, the Fat Boys. Heh. How bout IESHA by ABC? SUCH a funny song - sung by like five 8-12 year olds, one verse starts with "We played Ninteeeendoooo" and the next starts with "We ate cereeeaeal". Now THAT is cheesy. |

I think it was covered later. But what can you expect from rap artists, all they do is sample other people's work. How many songs have they forever ruined? |
