Okay, lets try it this way. I got the idea from another area in the forum. (someone can claim credit for it)
Songs or bands that come on the radio and your immediate response is to either:
1. Change the station 2. Break into a cold sweat and frantically shut off the radio, OR 3. Reach for the nearest blunt object and smash the radio.
A little extreme, maybe. I will submit one, for starters.
Train -- Drops of Jupiter. Please tell me this song will go away someday.

I dunno paintmeister. Are you a paintball fan? I lost a friendship because I was too farflung into chicks while a friend was touting paintball. Me? I dig ping pong in a big way.
Erase, erase, erase... OK, I edited out the bandname I put down, so I can think about it some more. |

I've played some paintball and enjoy it. The "paint" comes from my profession, though. I used to be a die-hard ping ponger. |

When I hear a song I dislike on the radio, I tend to MST3K it and make fun of it. Even hearing a song the first time, I predict where the song is gonna go and I pretend I am the lead singer. "alright, chorus! ok, now a soft bridge! then crescendo back into an awesome ending chorus!" But many times I have to turn it off because it's unbearable.
Any song by Staind. They are all the same if you ask me. There is a very depressing, uncatchy melody line in the verse, followed by a chorus which comes in with a half-memorable melody, which they milk by singing all 4 lines with the exact succession of notes. "Oh, we wrote an awesome melody! Let's use it for every line in the chorus! We don't even have to have variations of it because it's so awesome."

OK, I checked your profile, and Mark Twain is cool in any context. He's transcendant. Die-hard ping ponger? Right on. But I still don't know your profession... |

Pioneer, I am a painting contractor or you could call me a house painter or go for the sophisticated sounding "coatings application specialist".

Worst band to ever grace the airwaves: Revis. A shittier version of Creed. Yes. They're THAT bad. They hail from my hometown, too, so I have to hear people rave about how fan-fucking-tastic they are all of the time.

That Nickleback How You Remind Me song, anything by Linkin Park, Staind, Incubus, Hoobastank...I just hate popular radio. Classic rock or college stations are all the radio I listen to now. |

It's only "popular" because it appeals to the lowest common denominator...in other words, the most idiots at one time.
And rave on about fucking TRAIN and that song.
Fuck that Elton John rip off song. |

I have to say Incubus is pretty good. Now, Hoobastank, they suck and try to BE like Incubus
I saw this very shite band on Leno. Theory of a Deadman? I think something like that. It sounded JUST like Nickelback. Why would a band try and sound like a band that sucks? Oh well, in 5 years no one will care about these bands with albums that should be used to wipe asses.

I used to like Incubus a lot, but they're on the radio ALL the time right now and I really get tired of them. I also don't have much respect for bands where the singer doesn't play an instrument, with a few exceptions. |

I'll make this a little easier for me and everyone reading. The only songs that I DON'T mind hearing on the radio or television right now are absolutely nothing! Even bands I once liked, such as STP and Nirvana are just old and irritating now. And although the White Stripes are the most origional thing on the radio now, I'm beggining to not like them either. I think that the whole entire concept of the radio irritates me, so I don't liten to it at all. It's not like I might miss the best song I'm ever going to hear on the "radio". And it will never turn me on to a band that I will like tremendously anyways. So turn em' off folks, the good shit isn't followed by 12 fucking minutes of commercials, it's followed by 40 minutes of your next favorite album.

Why let an awesome band like the white stripes become annoying to you just because the radio plays them? It's not the white stripes fault that the radio plays them. I sorta know what you mean about a good bands' song getting annoying because the radio plays it out, but that's why you don't listen to the radio. You put that song/album on when YOU want to hear it, not when the radio plays plays it every 45 minutes.
Why do they even have request lines where you can call in and request a song? I guess it tricks the listeners into believing they are hearing what they want to hear.

If you insist. "Deep fried chicken, my best friends always stickin' up for you." Or something like that. That has to be the lamest way to work in deep fried chicken into a song. I'm sure somebody somewhere is gloating over those lyrics. On second thought, who would want to have deep fried chicken in their song.
I'm gonna snap if I go on any longer.

I think that part where he sings "plain old same old sorry that i missed you..." shoooba-doooba whatever line is too similar to "Come Together" by the Beatles. Right before the chorus.. "got to be good looking..." Gosh i don't even know the lyrics I'm quoting.

None that I can think of. Maybe if you like heinously unfunny banter and terrible music? Oh, and really great commercials. |

Unless your CD player got ripped off and now I'm excited when they play AC DC for cripes sakes, how sad. But I really really really can't stand any Creed. I just want to punch that guy out, he is so annoying, take your Godrock somewhere else......whew |

Radio IS in the hands of such a lot of fools...
I live in one of the biggest markets in the world and there is NO alternative (I know a tired phrase) radio station at all. At least 3 Classic Rock stations and untold Country stations. Not kidding, one of the classic rock stations slogans is "Texas rock that rocks". I mean some jackoff Marketing guy got paid to come up with that?????
Here is a link to what I will submit as the lamest radio station around. http://www.merge933.net/ You would never know that it isnt 1988 from that website.
If you have a local station just as bad I would love to laugh at it with you...

I used to listen to FM radio all the time. And I got really bored with it and started listening to talk radio. At least it was something that I hadn't heard before countless times. Since I work in office areas, (as not to disrupt the "desk jockies") I wear an earplug and radio, I got tired of Talk radio and now listen to whatever I can find that is worth listening to. Sometimes that can take numerous scans. I disagree with some of you. There is some good music on the radio, I think it depends on how many times you have heard it. I tend to like White Stripes but today I noticed they played the same song three times and I lost count on the Chili Peppers. The radio is usually my source for news, weather and traffic reports.
Other bands that I have heard enough of in my lifetime:
ZZtop Foreigner Peter Frampton REO Speedwagon
That should date me, right? |
