I've not heard the whole thing but i caught the end, they use a distorted guitar for the chords which i didn't think sounded very good, frank likes it though I think; he likes the band anyway.

speaking (again!) of placebo - a couple of years ago FB played Witnness (ireland answer to glastonbury) and played a stormer. placebo were on the main stage 10 mins before the end of FBs gig. the whole crowd stayed for the end of FBs set and once they left the stage there was a mass exodus to see placebo. it was pretty funny to watch - but really good to see that people were enjoying FB so much that they would wait till the end before going to see placebo.
without the risk of incurring mikes wrath  (or a hug!) - placebo arent the worst IMHO. i liked their really early stuff - but im 26 now and kinda grown out of that grungy stuff. cheers.

| I'm not THAT wrathfull... sure, I've destroyed a few lives, but only when it was totally called for. I may be harsh on Placebo, but it's that voice and indeed Molko's whole image that really rubs me the wrong way. "A friend in need's a friend..." The way he pronounces things, his faux-adrogynous look... I don't know. I'll stop ranting. I shouldn't make fun if people like him, it's not nice. |

yes - but they have just released a B-side compilation and apparently a good bit of the material was taken from that. motown junk is a great tune.

i'm still feeling very uncomfertable listening to ween...they sing about girls giving blow jobs a little too often...i feel like a guy listening to a riot grrl band. and one of the singers has a very...slick voice, and everything he says i'm now paranoid it is a coded message for 'went down to the beach to watch girls suck dicks' or something...

| Well, you may uncomfortable with certain songs on the Mollusk, such as "Waving My Dick In the Wind", however, I think you have to take Ween with a grain of salt and understand that they're probably joking. I mean, this isn't cock rock Whitesnake stuff here, it's all supposed to be humorous. Look at early Pixies stuff... lots of imagery that could make someone "uncomfortable". |

ah but pixies imagery is humourous to both sexes, as it is about both sexes. it doesn't really alienate anyone...also the ween singer(there seems to be a few of them but anyways...) has a scarier voice than dave lovering! i understand they are joking, but i'm still a little paranoid he's gonna molest me...

I used to think that chick that sings for Placebo was foxy, til she started going bald.
Comedy bands (moldy peaches, tenacious d, the manics) are good for a couple of listens, but after that they're about as funny as arse cancer.

| I wouldn't say ween is a comedy band, but rather, there are humorous elements to some of their music. I agree about straight comedy bands though, it gets old quick. Jessie, you will soon be a real teenager.... |
