Well, the new album has leaked guys. Promo copies have gone out. I haven't downloaded it yet, but here is where you test of fate comes in. So far the word is that it's damn good, with the most intricate production of any of his Catholics albums. |

How do you know? Have you actually seen it - or is it your assumption that people will leak it? Maybe you leaked it... |

I am gonna wait, no doubt about it. It's more fun doing the whole anticipation thing. If I downloaded all the songs, then bought the album in three months, it would not be as much of a thrill to buy it: "oh.. heh. I've already heard all these songs. I just need the artwork and CD case."

It will be difficult, but I will try my darndest to wait. That said, I already have Nadine, so I'm not sure that I'm going to hold out that long... |

It's the same wait between albums weither you download it or not. If you stole BLD 3 months in advance and you steal this one 3 months in advance, what's the point? It's just because we're all ADD sufferers with zero emotional intelligence who can't bear to deny ourselves instant gratification.
Needless to say, I'm waiting. Half of the enjoyment of buying an album for me is the process of buying and opening it and looking at the sleeve. I don't believe that everyone on the forum who steals it online will actually buy the CD. I don't believe it for a second. You may think you will now, but in three or four months when you're looking at it in the store you'll have already worn it out on your computer and will buy something else instead.
Here's a plan. Pre-order the CD BEFORE you download the leaked copy.

I did not leak it! I haven't even heard it yet. Promo copies have been shipped out though, and today there was supposedly a bunch more shipped, so it will probably spread faster now. |

I will download it AND buy it. I download music to listen to on my PC but I buy CDs for in the car and everywhere else. I dont have a CD burner nor really care for one. I will buy Frank's albums simply to support him, as well. I plan on ordering direct from the spinart site.

If I download something and I end up liking it - I ALWAYS buy it. So whether you believe it or not (Atheist!) some of us do actually download first AND buy later.
Peace out. |

For the record, I didn't get Nadine off P2P, just captured the stream from CookingVinyl to an MP3, which I don't believe is being shared currently. As soon as Ms. Spinart gives the word that they're ready to go with the advance ordering, I'll be all over it. I really can't wait. And no, there's no way in #$^@$%^ I wouldn't buy the CD, I bought both DW/BLD as soon as they were available, and hope to get this one even sooner... though Atheist is probably right that there are others out there who won't. |

NEED NEED MORE NEW FRANK!!!
NEED ALSO FOR HIM TO VISIT THE UK SOON!
I've now seen Nick Cave & Kristin Hersh twice in the time since Frank last played here in London - come on man - its only a small pond to navigate really.

Not like I'm obsessed or anything but those reccid came out soooo long ago I was starting to think that he was allergic or something...

I'm not sure if I can make this one and I'm fucking gutted. My flight back to China is scheduled for 1st July, the day after I get from Roskilde. I was tempted to not go to Roskilde and come back a week later for Frank, but the whole point of Roskilde is to spend time with my mates. If I stay until 10th my boss will be well pissed, so I have to make a decision. Shit, I want more than anything to see Frank live again and I constantly check the Roskilde band list to see if there is any small chance that he has confirmed a solo set at the festival. Wank!

As soon as I find this album on the net, I will download it. All of it. I will listen to it mercilessly. I will most likely burn it and listen to it in my car. A lot. And then, on the day in September when it is officially released, I will be first in line at my local cool record store (Oh Vinyl Diner, how I love you) to buy it. What is the problem with this process? Will there be as much excitement in listening to the record when I buy it? No. I did the same thing with BLD and DW. Did it ruin those records for me? No. I listen to them regularily. I have bought and will continue to buy everything Frank puts his name on.
Obfuscatebywill, what's so important about looking at a sleeve? Well, lyrics for one. More importantly, it's part of the album. They call it album "art", but the music is art, so it's all artwork. When an artist releases an album, I hope the album "art" is important to them, because it's all part of it. Surely the music is the most important thing, but owning an album and looking at the art while listening is all part of the experience. That's what's so great about vinyl. A great big canvas to put beautiful artwork on that can be appreciated while listening, or even without the music. How great is it to listen to Sgt. Pepper's while staring at the cover for hours, identifying people, or just reading the lyrcis along with the record? |

The problem with that process is that not everyone is a responsible patron of the arts like you appear to be. If the world was full of people like you, my throat would not be sore.

hmmm.... as victor meldrew would say 'i dont belieeeeeeve (in) it.'
i think albums have more appeal when they are originals and not downloads. as atheist rightly said - it is a charm thing. and its also my way of funding more FB releases seeing as he doesnt tour here too much. cheers
