Ok guys, confession time, what are some of the most embarassing albums you guys have bought over the years? Could be an album you bought, or an album your friend/relative had but you enjoyed it.
I confess, I bought/liked ____________.
Signed,
_________
I'll start: Counting Crows - "August and Everything After" Gin Blossoms - (whatever their crappy albums are called) Offspring - (their first album)
This was around 1993 and i was young and stupid.

Geri Haliwell - "Schitzophonic" (has some nice material!) Blinker the Star - "August Everywhere" (the 1st song is incredible!) Peter Murphy - "Love Hysteria" (what a stinker! and I LIKE him!) Mestiphocles - (all their records! on an impulse! I confused them with someone else! sold them the same day.. liked the titles!) Ace of Base - "Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry" (Love the break, tried to learn it, did, sold it) Orifice - "Gollywoggle" (indie Boston band - got it cause the name is like my last name, which is not the medical term, anyhow - they sound great, Siouxsie-lovers, perfect rippoffs, couldn't sell it back! couldn't give it away! snuck it into someone's purse! they took it home! Orifice!) Paual Abdul - "Forever Your Girl" (was it as good as when it came out? no!) Ric Ocasik - "Troubleizing" (um.. ) (still like him) Jimmy Eat World - (latest one, a gift from my brother! wish I could like it! if only!) Angelic Upstarts - (best of - clerk knew I was a Moz fan, gave me a sneer as if to say "Oh, you forgot your Sandee Shaw and your New York DOLLS! get out of my store!) Ugly Kid Joe - (no, but I wanted to!)

I liked Collective Soul a while ago. They may be alright musicians, but their albums are so tepid. It's like they never quite turn up to 10. Sounds like the guitars are playing through a 15-watt fender frontman (my first amp!).

WTF?? The Fun Lovin' Criminals are great!! How can you be ashamed of having bought the CD? My picks: Moby - Play (god do I hate this record) Kylie Minogue (I like this one)

Damn, I think that the Upstarts are a great band. I grew up on a lot of the bands you can find here:

That guy from Crash Test Dummies voice probably has a one octave range. I bet even when he sings falsetto his voice is as low as Eminem's pants.

As odd as it may sound, apparently Morrissey is a fan of Oi music; and a while back, there was a tribute album put out for the Smiths called, "The World Still Won't Listen", made up of punk, hardcore, and oi bands. |

that's not that odd, since he's into the Sex Pistols..
Johnny Marr is really into Nazi music, oddly enough..
alright, that was bad. |

Do you mean skinhead rock, or really neo-nazi bands? |

for me : amnesiac's radiohead. i don't understand : this band is so great. i see them many times in concert, but this last album is so boring ! so low ! i feel sick to think that's the great period of radiohead (from "my iron lungs" till " ok computer") is dead...

the only bad thing about amnesiac is pull polk revolving doors. the rest of it is cool. i can see you not liking the wierd guitar instrumentals or something, but pyramid song, for example, is so great, with the awesome string arrangement. Although i will agree with you that its probably one of their weakest albums, its still pretty good i would say, and im not just saying that because im blinded by radiohead loyalty

my first tape ever was Lionel Richie's "Can't Slow Down" when I was in the forth grade. Then I bought the Outfeild. Remember them? How friggin gay. I somehow managed to get a hold of my sister's Billy Ocean tape too. When I was really young, I took a bunch of sheets of computer paper and wrote names of cheesy bands on them with crayons that I thought were cool at the time and taped them all over the walls of my room. Then I made a drum set out of pencils and pans and shit and recorded myself playing a song that accidentally ended up on my sister's mix tape and was played full volume for a bunch of unsuspecting spectators. How friggin embarassing. I also had Poison, Faster PussyCat, Cinderella, used to love Great White, Skid Row, White Lion... then I discovered Zeppelin. I think that saved me.

Of course "embarassing" is a relative term. Last week I bought Rob ZombieÕs Hellbilly Deluxe, the week before Willie NelsonÕs ÒPhases and StagesÓ (the first country concept album, go pick it up). I also, like someone else posted, find myself strangely drawn to Kylie Minogue. Go figure. To me a recent embarrassing buy is The White Stripes. Embarrassed because I bought into the hype. Decent stuff, but all songs on their set sound exactlylike either: Led Zeppelin, the Animals, Black Sabbath or the Beatles. And these guys are compared to the Pixies? Sheesh!
I loved that Lionel Richie too, by the way. All night long! All night...All night long! |

Robbie Williams....come on, that is pretty bad. I also have been strangely drawn to Shakira. Oh, the HORROR!
I think we all have to admit to bopping along to Lionel Ritchie, I mean, we didn't know any better! ;) |

So when I was 13 I bought an albumn by Climie Fisher coz the lead singer was 6 foot 2 with blue eyes and floppy brown hair.
Frankly, that still sounds like a good time - pity about the music tho'...

It's not so much Kylie's music as it is just Kylie...na na na, nanananananana, na na na...Plus I like her singing in that Nick Cave song/video, "Where the Wild Roses Grow". |

Embarassing!!??!! The Outfield - Falco. C'mon guys you cannot tell me that you do not have an appreciation for good 80's music!! Next I suppose somebody will say that Duran Duran is embarrassing to own. 80's music rocks!! And then saying it is an embarrasment to own an album from "the man" Lionel Ritchie one of the greatest songwriters ever???!!?? I suppose Hall & Oates are embarrassing too?? or maybe I am just getting old.. |

Fuck it, I'll come clean... The Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves Soundtrack just for that Bryan Adams song... I was young, innocent and didn't realise that it was the only Bryan Adams song on the album.
Howard Jones - Dream into Action, and a best of Shakin Stevens (Britains answer to Elvis) album are cringeworthy... |

I bought Phil Collins "But Seriously" on tape when was I was a kid. And the *really* embarrassing thing is I just recently transferred it into mp3s for more convenient listening! (not that i've listened to it more than once in the past decade.. i'm just weird like that). I mean, if it was that album with "In The Air Tonight", that'd be forgivable, but "But Seriously".. come on! |

Most embarrassing moment would have to be when the "guy" at the record store encouraged me to buy the Monster Magnet album. Against all my better judgement I wasted my hard earned money and time buying this record. It sucked and still sucks, but hey that's just my opinion, I'm sure there are scores of people who love this stuff.

I'll show my age here, at least to the Europeans - I bought Alvin Stardust's 'The Untouchable'. Later, when I was a punk I had to buy my sister (honest) a disco compilation entitled 'Don't Walk, Boogie'. My most embarrassing Frank-related moment was when I was in a queue to order Adios Amigo, the Arthur Alexander tribute, featuring Frank. The guy boomed out to the entire queue 'is that Adios Amigo by Sacha Distel?' |
