I never saw FB & the C's till 2001. For those of you who saw earlier tours, how was Announcement? Did he play it? Was it at the end of a show? Did they extend the ending?

It seems like it would be an amazing song live. Same for Man of Steel.

thanks

He opened with Man of Steel in July 1999 when I saw him, and it blew me away. It was amazing...I'll never forget them coming out onto the stage and diving into Man of Steel.

I'd kill to hear Man of Steel live - that song is so underrated it scares me. What is it doing on a b-side collection?! Probably the most underrated FB song, in my opinion. I can't imagine that the outro with all that awesome percussion would be easy to recreate much less improve on live, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Scott... err... Harris. Someday I'll get out of the habit of calling him Scott.

Announcement was fantastic - saw him in Oslo - maybe 1996. He didn't play guitar on that one - held the mic like he was elvis and shaked his modest body so sweatpearls were flying everywhere. Very intense.

I didn't see Anouncement, but I did see Men of Steel. It was really good, pretty similar to the original version.

I saw him do Man Of Steel in Cleveland, when he was touring for the first Cathiolics album. He said something before hand like, "This was a commercial tie-in from X-Files episode blah-blah.". Great tune, and it's the only time I ever heard it live.

i saw him do announcement exactly 7 years ago today in portland at la luna. great set. i have seen him do man of steel a few times too. once here in san diego at the casbah, his guitar kept going out of tune so they restarted it 3 times......i liked that since it's only a 3 to 4 minute song anyways.

I think you've got a good chance of them playing Man of Steel, it has shown up every tour for awhile now. But Announcement, that would be incredible. Right now I'd say the closest you can get to that type of intensity is I Want Rock N Roll, which was incredible in November.

Really? I didn't think they played Man of Steel live much at all... at least of the five shows in the last two years I didn't hear it once. I might have to give another listen to Announcement, seems I may have underestimated it, which is a dangerous thing to do with a FB song.

Seen him perform Man of Steel a couple of times (a few years back). Incredible! I always forget how good that song is until he plays it...

I like man of steel quite a bit, one of my favorites actually, but has anyone every heard the song (I know some of you have) "carouselambra" by zeppelin from "In Through the Out Door?" That cool swanky guitar part in Man of steel always reminds me of that song...it was a strange one though.... dragging heroing sounding sections, followed by this synth dance section. Anyway... just wondering if anyone else has ever thought of this but me and my strange self.

Jeremy (of the Bennies) asked FB why he doesn't play Announcement anymore and he said he's "burned out on it." I guess he's just bored playing it.
