Did you see Frank Black & The Catholics Friday night??
If you did, HearItAgain.net recorded it and you can download it from http://hearitagain.net/product.asp?3=18
FB&C put out a scorching 90-minute set at the Double Door in Chicago on March 28, 2003. Included in the set were a handful of new songs.
This show is a diamond in the rough--listen to these songs as they were meant to be played and heard.

hmm..how would you folks feel about me buying this, and putting it on the FTP site so everyone can get it for FREE?
I think it's incredibly pathtic that they're selling this for US$12. I'm assuming none of the $$ goes to FB. Who does it go to?

I think it's an official site and an official sale, Dave. Plus, if they got the rights to sell it, and you give it away...

It's really cool, wish the bass was louder, but that's what Wavelab was made for.

Don't put it on the FTP site.
I mean I would love to have it and I don't have the money.
But I know HearItAgain.net gives Frank a really good deal of the money. This is a really Frank thing to do, he did something like this a couple of years ago with the self titled album of FB and the C's. It was a very new thing to do...
Why were Sir Rockaby and New House Of The Pope dropped? Maybe they weren't to fond of the way it sounded?

Ahhhhhh, gotcha.
It's a pretty simple process to d/l this thing.
Pay via c/c or Paypal, they send you a password, visit a link, d/l, and use the password during the 'unzip" deal.
It's a compressed folder (95 MB) that is downloaded.
Just wanted to explain the process to everyone.

I agree. Don't make this available on the FTP site.
They DO get royalties off this so let us buy it if we want it.
I don't think it'd be appreciated otherwise. |

Frank gets money from this. I read it from an article that was posted on this site not too long ago.
Put this on the FTP and it's mouth-punching time, Noisy.

I am in the process of downloading this show and it appears my download is stuck at 41,5 MB. Has anybody gotten this in full length and if I cancel my download can I re-download it or is it a one shot deal? Man, this is frustrating. Thanks for your help in advance. |

This show will NOT be available on the FTP, and I encourage everyone who's interested to buy the show. I would also ask that you do not distribute or trade it, as that would be the same as distributing and trading a regular album of theirs. It's $12, less than the cost of a ticket and most CDs, for 20+ songs. That's a deal. |

Be careful though -- it looks like to me that if you pay with credit card directly on the hearitagain.net site that it's not secure.
I'd stick with PayPal until they fix that!
Cheers, Jeff

hmm..thanks for all the info.
I still don't really agree with this system..$12 for an MP3 bootleg is a rip-off, sorry. I'd be supportive if it were $2-$5 tho.
Not having a secure/encrypted server is pretty lame too.
Glad some of the $$ is going to Frank at least. |

It's nice that Frank gets some royaties but $12 dollars is alot of money to spend on mp3s. I would buy the concert IF it was pressed on a CD since it's not technically 'official'.
I don't think Frank really cares if it's put on the FTP or not. He knows us fans are loyal diehards who own the majority of his Pixies and FB albums. He knows the majority of us attend(ed) his shows. Travelled far to see the band perform live.
I own every Pixies and FB albums (i even re-purchased the Dog In The Sand reissue). I seen the band live in concert and is attending upcoming gigs (bringing my non Frank Black fans along to convert them btw).
So over the years Frank got plenty of money outta me.
How many of us have bought a commercial Frank Black or Pixies album at the used section of your friendly local record shop? Or bought official commercial singles from e-bay? How many of us has downloaded Frank Black b-sides?
If you have done any of those things then you are technically 'ripping off the band' - since Frank doesn't get money in his pockets.
A true story: a year ago i burned a recent Frank Black concert for my friend. From that concert recording he went out and bought a few of his albums. So maybe this concert would convert people onto his music since a lot of us agree that Frank is an amazing live band. |

Buy it, folks. There's no difference between this show and a regular release except for the format. I agree mp3s usually don't have a very good sound, and $12 is a bit expensive, but don't upload it anywhere.

Forgive me in advance - this question might highlight my ignorance on this matter - but can the entire concert fit onto a CD? |
