In a previous post, some people mentioned that Frank should cover a Fall song. Do we know if Frank's a Fall fan? I've always wondered that, for a few reasons. One, once I read somewhere that Frank quoted the Fall somewhere in hte lyrics to Surfer Rosa. I'm a huge Fall fan, and have not been able to find where in Surfer Rosa there might be a Fall line. Does anyone know if this is true? Was it maybe an interview he quoted the Fall in? The other reason is that i think on couple songs there's actually a strong Fall influence. I'm thinking of "Bone Machine" (with the verses...the preachy preach part)and especially "Subbaculcha" And on the BBC version of Subbaculcha Frank sings "there's something about this song---UH!" as if to pay homage to Mark E Smith's habbit of doing that after every line.
Anyhow, maybe i'm looking to into this, but i am curious. |

Doesn't he also say, "This is a song about a fall, yeah a fall" right before Subbacultcha during the Brixton 1991 show.

Don't know about an actual reference to the Fall in Surfer Rosa, but he did speak favourably in an interview about Mark E Smith always releasing new material every year and not feeling that he had to play his back catalogue all the time live. I got the feeling he did like the Fall (I'm a fan too) |

Oh really? When was this interview conducted? During or after the Pixies.

Late period Pixies. It was in either Melody Maker or NME. |
