There may be no 'I' in team, but there's a 'ME' if you look hard enough. |

I heard it at a party Saturday night, and it moved my (usually modest) four year-old to strip off all her clothes and start dancing. I recognized a lot of the hooks from White Blood Cells, but who cares? It's fun stuff. |

Yeah, It is pretty damn good, the only thing that bothers me a little is that the progression to 'Theres No Home For You Here' is basically the same thing as 'Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground' |

Maybe with only two of them, they are running out of ideas? I don't know - I just got Elephant last week and so far I like it. I blared it yesterday while I cleaned house and it was a good beat for vacuuming. |

I quite like this album too..tho the riff in the first song, 7th Nation Army, is quite similar to a tune a friend and i wrote like 12yrs ago:
Oh..MP3.com won't let you link directly to the songs anymore..guess it really is time to move on. |

I have Elephant and I like it a lot. Definitely recognized the Dead leaves hook in 'theres no home...' but the album in whole is great. You can nitpick it do death, but, not too many bands are putting out cd's that are so deep. Every song is noteworthy IMO in its own way. |

I still need the fucking album. I read an interview with them in Spin (good interview) and he said that the name "Seven Nation Army" came from his childhood...that's what he thought the name of the Salvation Army was. |

I really like it but I wish Meg was a better drummer. She pretty much sucks. I dig the loose, dirty blues thing, but her sloppiness distracts me way too much. I can't help thinking that having a smoking, bad ass drummer would make the record unbelievably good. She just doesn't do Jack's great guitar playing justice.

I will agree that Meg's drumming is kind of annoying, but I don't know. It kind of makes the way more endearing - more romantic in a sense. Kind of like Richard Hell's bass playing in the Voidoids - not that great, but it wouldn't really be the same without his bass lines in the mix.
Edit: Actually, I think Richard's pretty decent, but not a lot of people seem to share that sentiment.

A friend and I are working on the basic tracks (guitar by him, drums by me) for a 5 or 6 song recording right now. One of the songs is eeriely reminescent of 7 Nation Army, right down to the bass n drums intro, the two-chord buildup, and even the tempo. And my friend's song was written months ago. Such an instance of psychic plagiarism makes one wonder about the existence of artistic muses. |

I just bought Elephant tonight. I put that CD in my car CD player, listened to the first song, then as soon as i got home, I recorded a song exactly like the first one. It was weird. I must say, me and Jack White must think alike.
But seriously, I have only listened to the first 8 so far but it's sounding good. I have a mix of white stripes a friend gave me, and from what i gather, these songs have the most layering out of previous stripes songs. Is this a falsity? Or am I right?
