Just got home from the Calgary show and it was great! He played a lot of songs from Black Letter Days and Devil's workshop. He played a couple of songs from Dog in the Sand (Robert Onion and Hermaphroditos), All My Ghosts from the first Catholics album and Headache and Calistan Way from Teenager and a few that I didn't recgonize. I was very surprised that he played a lot of Pixies songs. Where is My Mind, Nimord's Son, Gouge Away, Crackity Jones and Cactus to name a few.

The highlight of the show (really, it was a great!) was probably the way they played Gouge Away. There were organs in it and it sounded great. I also liked that Rock and Roll song. Can't wait for the new album!

Had a great time and I hope that he comes back to Calgary soon!

Yeah, the Catholics version of Gouge Away is awesome. Go grab it from the Lowlands festival - mmmmmoi! Songs like I Want Rock & Roll & Hermaphroditos & Jane the Queen of Love really have to be heard live to be appreciated, and Robert Onion is also incredible live. Ahh, who am I kidding, they're all awesome live. How was the crowd/capacity, and how chatty was Frank. I have to live vicariously through you guys. :)

Frank was very quite. He hardly spoke at all. At one point he said, "This is the first time we've...been to this town" I'm not sure if he knew where they were!

It was very, very crowded. If it wasn't a sellout it was really close. I'm not sure how big Mac hall is...and I'm not good at guessing that kind of stuff...my wife says there were probably about 500 people there.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that my only dissapointments were that I forgot my camera and that they didn't have any Frank Black t-shirts to sell.

Frank said virtually nothing the whole time, except for when introducing the band and saying that little blurb about the first time they'd been in town. It was a really good show though. It would have been perfect, had it not been for the moshers. Damn moshers, moshing around, moshing into everyone.

I was talking to someone who worked at ticketmaster before the show, and she said there had been around 600 tickets sold.

I did meet Frank before hand as he wandered around the basement of Mac Hall. While I was talking to him I was kind of suprised how coherent I thought was, but, looking back, I didn't make a lot of sense.

Heh... yeah, the man can be a little intimidating. :) It's too bad, he really seems to have been pretty quiet on this whole leg of the tour, maybe the most talkative in Winnipeg from what those folks tell me. I hope he didn't stop any songs because of the moshers - they were in the middle of Los Angeles at my first FB show in Vancouver and he stopped mid-song and said something like, "Geez guys, I'm 36 years old and too old for that crap", and that was all we heard of Los Angeles at that show. Luckily, we heard it a few days later in Portland. But yeah, I know that it pisses him off too, so maybe that's why he was quiet - didn't want to stop the show in a new town, but maybe it was bothering him.

You should make yourself a T-shirt. I bought a plain orange one, scanned in the FB-guitar logo (3rd last page of orange) and threw it on the front, and then the Frank Black logo from the orange cover and put it on the back. I got the band to sign it except Dave M. (I figure it's an FB shirt, not an orange album shirt) 'cuz he doesn't seem to help put away the equipment, and I'd really like to get Eric's signature too. I mention this because I could send you the scanner images if you want.

Anyway, glad to hear it was a good show and that there were lots of people there.

It was kind of intimidating, but I figured there was no way I was gonna pass up an opportunity to say hi to him.

Yeah, when the Man In Black calls, you gotta' accept the charges. Did he seem like he enjoyed playing C-town?

There were 1000 tickets sold in advance of the show, plus however many walk ups there were. I haven't talked to the promoter since the day of at 1:00 and that is where tickets were at.

I know in edmonton there were 1300 paid admission.

1400 at least at this show, i was talking to one of my friends who bring bands in and at 5:00 he said they wanted 1000 and were at 1400. Bullet was by far the most inpressive song that i thought he played.
