Is there anyone on the forum who attended/is going to attend the Edmonton/Calgary shows? Or that knows if they sold out? It'd be pretty awesome for Frank to sell out the prairie portion of his tour. Anyway, keep us up to date. |

I'm going to the Calgary show tomorrow. Can't wait!!! When I picked up my tickets a few weeks ago they said they were still some left. Hopefully, its sold out or near sold out otherwise I fear he might not come back again. |

I hope so, too. That way, even if he doesn't ever come here we still have some close shows to go to. Last year, thinking he'd never come to western Canada (except Vancouver/Victoria), we drove all the way to Portland (and by chance caught a show in Vancouver as well). It cost us (well, my friend) a car, hitchhiking with some anti-Mexican American guy, and two plane tickets back from Vancouver. But still worth it!
How big is McEwan Hall, btw? |

Wow, sounds like youi went through quite the ordeal to see him. Glad it was worth it! This is going to be my first Frank Black concert so I am super excited! I've been listening to his music for almost 10 years now!
Not sure how bic McEwan hall is...I just moved to Calgary about a year ago and have never been there. |

You are in for a treat. I definitely recommend being there early enough to get camped out centre stage, right under Frank. A great vantage point, you are right by the man himself, you can see all the other members clearly, and you are a buffer between Frank and the occasional idiots who might try to grab his guitar/leg/mic stand or do something stupid.
I REALLY am craving another show and would make the trip to C-town myself if I didn't have finals starting this week. :( |

Sweet. I can't wait. Doors open at 7, and we are aiming to be there around then. I've been waiting to see Frank live for so many years now. I thought he'd never come to Calgary.
Good luck on your finals! |

The Edmonton show was packed, I'm guessing at least 500 (probably more)in attendance. The crowd was very into the show, and clearly was excited about all the Pixies songs. Songs were played one after the other with no talking in between. At the end of the set Frank and the boys stood up there soaking in the ovation and waved to all parts of the venue (balconies included). All in all a great show, on par with the show I saw in Victoria almost two years ago exactly. Here are the songs he played (but not in the correct order):
Where is my mind bullet cactus monkey gone to heaven gouge away mr grieves crackity jones holiday song los angeles headache sir rockaby all my ghosts 666 (loud version) i want rock and roll robert onion hermaphroditos dog in the sand california bound jane the queen of love dirty old town new house of the pope nadine Muscaf Centrale (the song about France)
