What non Frank/Pixies music is in your tape deck, CD Tray, or (if you're old like me) on your turntable lately? What right now makes you salivate and want to call into work? Me?...well...
1. The Police box set 2. Enon - High Society 3. Wire - Read and Burn 4. The Heroine Sheiks - Siamese Pipe 5. Talking Heads - Fear of Music 6. Shesus - Loves you...Loves you not 7. Gang of Four - Entertainment 8. All kinds of Link Wray 9. Television - Marquee Moon 10. The Saints - Anthology
I'll keep it to ten as to not overdue it.

actually, no. but thatīs a good thing, i think. thatīs what i didnīt like about his first solo album. some very good songs and a couple of crappy ones. this album is much more consistent, even if it has that stupid 'craw song' in there. ramp of death, oyster, dark wave i liked imediately, but the others grew on me after repeated listens. |

I bought a Sebadoth album off the back of listening to Folk Implosion but thier totally different, much more rock'in and noisey. Thanks for reminding me about them, I hav'nt listened to it that much, I must go have a listen to it now(I also only sort of got it cause it has Freed Pig on it, which The Breeders coveredt on thier Head to Toe EP)

I have been listening to Bettie Serveert a lot lately. They are a very interesting band from Holland that features amazing song writing and a great vocalist. Check out Private Suit or their new album Log 22. Another wild band that I think is relatively unheard of outside of Canada is NOMEANSNO. Power punk stylings to hate the world with. Check out their album Wrong on the Alternative Tentacles label. |

Just wondering if anybody in England or Ireland saw the great Old Grey Whistle Test compilation show last night, with great preformances from Talking Heads, Cheap Trick, Adverts, The Jam, The Spitballs, The Rozzillos, The Buzzcocks, even Dire Strats were really good! Really class stuff that you won't get to see on TV for another ten years.

I just downloaded it to check it out, and I thought it was pretty good up until the end section. Thats probably my favorite part of the song, and it might as well not be there in the cover. |

I do like the end of the Beatles version, but I'd say it's the only part that REALLY reveals that it is a Beatles song, so I'm not sure it would have been consistent with the rest of the song for the Breeders to cover it. They could've had a guitar do what the backing vocals do, or maybe have a guitar do lead vocals and the bass do the backing - that would have definitely been the Breeders. I think it could have been done better, but I understand why they let it go, but that is a great part of the song for sure. |
