well then...Hello everybody. I have been reading the show reviews on this site for awhile and, having been to my first FB show, decided to post one of my own...so here goes. ok so first of all they were supposed to play at the mercury...however when we got there around 945pm it was vacant(and no note was on the door or anything!) so we proceeded to hunt all over town, wandering to different clubs along sixth street, looking for the elusive Frank Black show. Its kinda funny b/c after awhile of just aimlessly wandering around we had gathered a decent possie of lost and confused music lovers and finally one of us was was smart enough to check the star tickets web page . It turns out it had been moved to Stubbs (who knows why). So alas, we arrived late, me and my Frank possie. It is because of this I cant list all the songs they did, but here's what I remember beginning w/what I heard when I got there late: Heloise CACTUS (!) S. Bevy Whiskey in your shoes Calistan(hell yeah!) California Bound Where is my Mind ...a few from the first 2 catholics lps, which I dont have Holiday Song Robert Onion 666 Velvety Mr. Grieves Bullet Black Rider Encore: Jane, the Queen of Love
I know I left a some out, esp b/c I came in a bit late (if anyone wants to tell me what they opened the show with Id appreciate it). Despite what Ive read, Frank seemed rather chatty tonight, gradually introducing the band memeber one after each song...then after he had introduced them all, he said something like "wow I dont know what to say, Ive inroduced the whole band already!" Then he started joking around with the band a little and they all kept saying stuff like "we dont talk, we sing what we say, and thats why you all came." The mood was very upbeat throughout the night, and after he finished Black Rider the crowd went nuts, so Frank, after blushing from the big response decided to treat us the the AMAZING Jane, the queen of Love, which is one of their best songs if you ask me. Great show. Thanks for reading! |

Cheers mate.... its always good to know what songs he's been playing at the gigs. Does anyone know if Frank has played The Scene yet on any of his recent tours?

StupidMe, your first post has been a successful one. You've given us the first setlist from the new tour. Now I halfway can know what to expect when I hear him on Sat. You will go down in the new poster hall of fame...at least you've got my vote. Finally somebody comes through. Thanks StupidMe. -FranknWeezer

Anyways FB was extemely chatty at the acoustic show too...My favorite part was when he was explaining Bullet( ive been waiting years to hear him tell that story)..I got a nice Photo with him too and autographed Devils worksop. i also went to both the waterloo records instore and the actual show. they were my first frank black concerts so i was really excited. i videotaped the instore but they wouldn't let me bring my camcorder to the stubb's show. anyway, the show was excellent. i was right in front of frank. i picked up one of the picks that he dropped and afterwards, scott gave me his drumsticks. the setlist was pretty good but i was hoping for more songs from the first two records. hearing the pixies songs were awesome though. |

I am 100% sure they did "Black Rider", mahavishnunj. It was one of the very last songs they did. |
