Hey gang! Only the hardcore folks read messages in this area, so i'll post this here..
Sadly, Jim won't be able to complete the FB database himself, so i'm wondering if someone(s) else might want to take this semi-massive project on?
It's been started, and it's in a Access 2000 database (got an Access '97 version, but would prefer to stick to 2K), and what we need is the complete listing of tunes, line them up with the albums, and other song-related odds'n'ends..
If you're really keen, but don't have M$ Office, i can also set up an online 'form' for you to access and manipulate the DB through..and that's where it'll end up anyway so maybe i should just do this anyway..
Post questions and comments here, again a big thanks to Jim for starting and organizing this part of the site. =) |

how much do you have to know about the songs, or is it mostly just the bitchwork of setting it up, cause i can do bitchwork.

I'm interested, but obviously would like to know a little more.... do you mean that you just want someone to develop and design the database, as well as stick all of the info in? Ive got Access '97 but not 2000. Let me know a little more as I would obviously like to help out.

I have Office XP.
Since I've been working a mind-numbing fed job for the past 7 months, I'd love getting back to something actually enjoyable.
I database my own CD collection, anyway. (Artist/Album/Format/Year/Track Listing/Where & How Obtained)

Beware, the lyrical input alone will end you! And I have one request for whoever takes over, PLEASE input the lyrics properly. Please use proper spelling and grammar, and break the lines up the way they are broken up in the song. |

Thanks for the offers everyone! I'll try and figure out a way to organize this, unless someone wants to oversee this and dish out tasks..
At the moment it would be easiest and fastest for me if someone with Office 2K (or higher) would take over, and get other people to help them out with things like the lyrics, etc...
OBW/Scott - would you be up to this?
Then when it's mostly complete i'll import it to my SQL and make it public - yay! |

Can't people steal lyrics from 8th Day website? That would be a hell of alot easier than data input.

I was taking lyrics from various online sources, but none of them were formatted properly...so I ended up having to do a LOT of editing. |

Whoever becomes overlord, lemme know, and I'll give them all the lyrics I have on file...I can easily reformat them to whatever format is needed... |

I'd be up for it.
Do you have any database-type stuff tailored to this project?
...Or would there be considerable gruntwork?

I made up the Access database, so for the most part it's data entry. The only "more difficult" part is the song associations...associating each song to the proper album(s) and giving the track number. |
