Hi Frank,

It may seems strange to ask you that but I've been living in the UK for five years and I've lost touch with the french indie scene, so I was wondering if while touring in France or Europe you have found new interesting bdans to listen to ???

PS : if one day you need lyrics in french for one of your songs, I'd be happy to help

Yvan

french music isnt bad at all - i own a really excellent compilation called shake sauvage (french films 1968-75) with material from people like george garvantes (i think spelled correctly), francis lai and claude bolling among others - its basically funk heaven (as a big fan. also - the serge gainsbourghs album 'histoire de melody nelson' is excellent - and one of my favourite albums of all time. jaques brel is also pretty good - but less said about those french girlies who appeared on eurotrash the better!

it's really makes me happy to see that the music of gainsbourg and brel had crossed the seas...

histoire is indeed excellent and well worth checking out - and i enjoy it even though i dont speak french. i have also been looking for the 'madame claude' soundtrack album for ages ... even went ploughing through bargain bins in zurich last year to no avail. this is regarded as his finest moment by some. as for brel - my death is excellent and i love bowies version.

but what about irish bands? apart from the obvious of course...

L'Homme A Tete de Chou is even better than Melody Nelson IMO. Uh, and Stereolab aren't French.

Stereolab is an amazing band, kind of Low-fi. Recently their female guitar player died on a bike accident, so sad !

For begginers I advice the CD " Emperor Tomato ketchup". Quite catchy !

Stereolab are actually not French, even though they sing in French a lot.

Right Floop, though Laetitia Sadier is French, so we can say they´re a bit french.
