Anyone have any comments about Phil Spector being arrested for murder.
Is it true he could have murdered Ronnie Spector??
He produced the PIXIES cover of Leonard Cohen's I Can't Forget! Apparently, we pulled a gun on Joey Santiago during the recording of this song.
WOULD YOU GUYS STILL BE FRANK BLACK FANS if you got arrested for murder?

Wow. This is the first I've heard of it. I guess they'll have to jail him behind something more substantial than a Wall of Sound. (Sorry--couldn't resist. I do dearly love the Wall of Sound.)
As to whether I'd still be a fan of Frank's music if arrested for murder, I can't really see how that would have any bearing on my patronage. I imagine his songs would be just as much of a comfort while incarcerated as they are now. Cactus, anyone? |

Phil Spector is KA - razy.
It's not Ronnie, by the way.
I love everything that Phil Spector did musically. I could give a fuck about him personally. Frankly, I have no time for eccentric millionaires who keep loads of firearms and think they can do what ever the fuck they want cuz they're rich. Fuck Phil Spector. If he did it, let him rot with the other prisoners.
If I was arrested for murder, would I still like Frank Black? I don't get it. Why would it change whether or not I liked his music? If FRANK was arrested for murder, I'd still like his music. It'd be a pity that he had to kill a person, but I don't think it would affect his past music for me any. Or any future music he made, unless it was all about the murder.
Anyway, wtf? It's a silly question either way.

phil spector is a talented man, and i like almost everything he ever did, but he fucked up "let it be" pretty severly - i'm anxious to hear the new "stripped down" arrangements.
but back to the murder thing, it's sad, but not totally unexpected. he's apparently pulled out guns on the ramones, joey santiago (as said above) and a few others and has been know as unstable for awhile now. it's really sad

Some peope reject the music and operas of Richard Wagner because of his anti-semitism, and the philosopher Martin Heidegger joined the Nazi Party under Hitler, leading some to dismiss his philosophical work. Some of us wonder whether Bill Clinton was capable of "feeling the pain" of his rape victim and whether that might be relevant to his presidential qualifications. In the cases of Wagner and Heidegger, for me their moral conditions would be relevant only to the extent that their work was informed by those conditions. As for Clinton, heinous as his treatment of Juanita Broderick may have been, that was just the beginning of his chronic abuse of all things honorable. |

Someone said Phil Spector was a talented man, and my first thought was; a lot of talented men (and women) are also kind of crazy. Van Gogh, anyone?
Anyway, it's weird. But it's not huge on my radar of concern either. Sorry for the woman who died more than anything else. |

IMO, Phil Spector was "talented" enough to botch the Beatles ("Let It Be") and the Ramones ("End of the Century"). Maybe he just didn't know the difference between rock bands and vocal groups. From what I've gathered, his whole philosophy of record production (er, over-production) was the complete opposite of our beloved Frank. |

Any individual who has pulled a gun on Joey Santiago is no friend of mine. Also, what's this about "stripped down" Let It Be arrangements? |

just heard yesterday (the very day of spector's "detainment") that they're re-releasing let it be with the original pre-spector arrangements - should be coming out later this year. all with mccartney's blessing, of course.

Yeah. If you've heard any of the versions on Anthology 3, you get an idea of how good that can be. |

ROFLMAO! That has to be the funniest, most rediculous question I've ever seen on this forum...What the hell!?
Phil Spector's "wall of sound" is great and all, but Brian Wilson is still just as great, if not better. Too bad he lost it, too. I guess there's a price to pay for being genius. |
