I guess Mr. Galoof isn't around to tout his love of loves, called "Total Recorder" by I think a company called High Criteria. Perfect for anything audio. I also use it for marking tracks on large wav files and other simple audio operations. It is VERY good, and well worth the $20 or whatever they ask for it. For Windows Media (asf, wmv . . .) I use ASF Recorder, a freeware app that Microsoft wishes would go away.

Total Recorder is awesome for capturing streams.. BUT... it has a nasty habit of changing all the audio preferences for other audio editing software.
