Posted - 07/21/2004 : 00:14:27 Ya know... there need to be more loser insomniacs on this board. I come here late at night, expecting to interact with all the other geeks who don't have priorities in the morning and who just want to bullshit around with other geeks, and there's just not enough of it. That's what these forums are all about. Those are the types of people who are supposed to make these forums prosper. But instead we have all these people with normal schedules who post during the *day* when it's *light out*, and then they go to *bed* before *midnight* because they have to *wake up for work*!
So who the hell else is here right now?

Posted - 09/22/2013 : 15:47:05 Good question. I'm going through a faze of seeing the clock turn past 4:00am then 5. I can't decide whether to go to bed and lie there awake for a few hours or just stay up and do some "work". |

Posted - 09/04/2007 : 03:39:03 Woke up at 3:38 a.m. (went to bed at 10), and as usual I couldn't get to sleep because all I could think about was how, if I don't get to sleep right away, I'm going to be tired all day. I put on a mellow album and laid there for an hour, but was still awake when the album ended. So I said "Fuck it" and got up. My alarm goes off at 5:30, and I really didn't feel like laying there frustrated for another hour. The question is: Is that laying-awake-in-bed time valuable, in terms of rest? Or am I just as well off getting up and getting my day started?
Coffee, here I come.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Posted - 07/19/2007 : 00:48:41 Ack! I'm doing that total mindfuck thing where you keep thinking "Okay if I get to sleep right now I can still get 4 hours of sleep" and so on. Goddamnit! It was about 30 degrees (Celcius) today and its still about 25. Still way to hot for this Canadian girl.

Posted - 07/03/2007 : 12:31:36 coasty, sounds like a self-fulfilling prophecy kinda mind freakout. Sorta like performance anxiety. Mine's more like, "Wheee, someone has loads of manic energy for no apparent reason." It's predictable, every 9 months to a year or so it comes visiting like a harmless, tiresome relative.
Earlier today a kind person promised to let me have a 15-minute catnap but instead woke me 3.5 hours into a log-like sleep.
I feel physically exhausted and mentally confused. Is this what rest does to a person?

Posted - 07/03/2007 : 07:21:41 Kathryn, I do get insomnia at times. Mine comes from regular life stresses, at least to begin with. I'll wake up in the night, thinking thinking thinking about whatever is stressing me out. And then after a few nights of that, I'll start stressing about insomnia itself. It becomes a bad cycle. I'll get really tired from not sleeping and I'll start freaking out about whether I'm going to get enough sleep. Right now I'm in a good place, sleeping well, but I know the sleepless nights will return again. But hey, there's this thread, so maybe I'll post in it next time.
Please pardon me, for these my wrongs. |

Posted - 07/02/2007 : 21:41:03 I have began just getting up and taking a benedryl as soon as I wake up. That helps put me back to sleep fairly quickly. I just hate to take something to sleep even if it is over the counter.

Posted - 07/02/2007 : 21:35:01 That there sounds like some kinda REM cycle disturbance thing. (That's me trying to sound all scientific, like I know what I'm talking about.) At any rate, it doesn't sound like fun and I'm sorry you have to deal with it.

Posted - 07/02/2007 : 21:28:26 I don't know if what I have is considered insomnia, but I know it is annoying. I don't have a problem going to sleep. It is staying asleep that is the problem. I sleep about 3 hours then I wake up and can't go back to sleep until it is about an hour before the alarm goes off. Of course, once the alarm goes off then I can't get myself to wake up. I seem to sleep better if I stay up until about 11pm or Midnight. My restless nights seem to be worse when I go to bed earlier than 11pm. I wish I could sleep longer than 7 or 8 hours. I think it would be wonderful to be able to sleep for about 10 hours.

Posted - 07/02/2007 : 21:07:13 My insomnia.
I don't mean that with sarcasm.
I'll go 9 months sleeping like a normal person (8 hours-plus) and then for no reason I can gather, certainly not because of stress of worries, I'll do 2 hours of sleep for 2-3 months. There's no big sob story or medical problem. If anything it's productive, I get lots of paperwork and housecleaning done. But it is ever so dandy when I get to do that thing other people do, called sleep.
Do you have insomnia, coastie?

Posted - 03/17/2007 : 16:44:30 I find myself awake way too often in the middle of the night, and wish there was someone to chat with. My buddy in Oregon has the same problem, and we decided it sure would be nice if there was a light on our alarm clocks that told us if the other was up in the middle of the night. That way we could just turn on Skype or Gmail and have a nice chat, since we're up anyway. Boy, if everyone on this forum could hook into the same system, there'd be a much greater chance somebody's up when I am.
