When asked my name while making a reservation at a restaurant, I always say "Simpson." Inevitably I'm asked
"How do you spell that" and I say "Like Homer."

Do you ever use a different name?

I like using names with lots of syllables. Like Henrietta Collinsworth or Allejandro Ramirez.

Kiki. Kiki McCaffrey. That's my name and I like to use it
at every given opportunity. For starters, it reminds
Dayanara who McDave chose.

This high ranking guy where I worked was named Seymour
and I had to do the Homer Simpson thing of telling myself over and over to be careful ("Don't say Seymour Butts!" "Don't say Seymour Butts!") every time he came from corporate for a site
visit.

I used the pseudonym "Damon Z. Pythias" on a few stories I wrote, but I got kind of tired of it, and nothing significant ever happened with those stories.

I had to Google search just to find out who the hell you were on about then.

Then again, I bet you had to do that too huh (or are going to now)?

And if he shouts, "Mr Patrick Bateman, your table is ready", the whole room will clear and I'll be left to enjoy my meal in peace.

I would be nervous to use a name that had any permutation
of the word "masturbate" in it. Can't you hear the Maitre D' calling
"Master Bateman, your table for one is ready!"

I have weird last name that is screwed up 90% of the time, so if I have to leave a last name I usually leave "Starr" with 2 r's to keep them on their toes. Also, I sometimes don't like my first name (Barney) so I occassionally use "Tom" at fast food restaurants.
Newo Posted - 01/09/2005 : 12:20:43
I worked in a bookshop and whenever I´d have to mail books to the States I was required to sign my name and write that the book was anthraxfree and the like, so I used the pseudonym Paul Auster used for his first, for-the-money-only detective novel, Paul Benjamin.

i have one that started a long time ago: Sam Frank. inspired by this smelly, semi-homeless, bearded guy who was applying for a job at a book store. he kept saying to guy behind the counter, "my name is SAM FRANK! SAM.. FRANK!!!" almost shouting. you had to be there but it was fucking funny.

i use that all the time. whenever i call my friends at work and the receptionist asks me who i am i'm like, "This is Sam Frank, from Sam Frank Industries".. it gives me pleasure to know that she's paging my friend on the pa system with that announcement.

I am guessing Daisy Girl counts? Yeah, I forgot, back in my single days, I would make up different names when ever a guy that seemed sketchy or a guy I wasn't interested in would hit on me. Sometimes we pretended to be Spanish or French too. Sometimes I would make up a whole new life story. It was a hoot.
