In the next few weeks I'll be retabbing some Pixies tabs and also releasing brand new ones (including Letter to Memphis, Palace of the Brine, and Nimrod's Son - Joey parts included).

Maybe the reunion got me re-pumped about the Pixies so I want to tab the songs now.

That's all.

Just quit a cult / going through withdrawal

I have a simple chord book for Doolittle, which has the guitars tuned to E flat for POTB. So you may indeed be right.

there are four sounds going down (excluding bass and drums) i can make out.

BF strumming the rhythm part (C - G - D# - A#)
Joeys's lead (what the FILLshow and Levtated posted)

(around 2:16, these two layers join in)
The A# to C notes repeated
Funny little string bend in the background

here's one interpretation from The Hey Cafehttp://www.arnoldjacksontheband.com/pixdootab.htm#NO13

   B--1h3-----3-----3-----|--------|--------|
   G----------------------|--9b--r-|--7b--r-|

there's an A# to C going on, but not sure if played as single notes.

*Bad Tab Alert*:

----x---/---x----
----x---/---x----
----x---/---x----
---(0)--/--(2)---
----1---/---3----
----x---/---x----

and those funny little string bends has got me beat.
tried every note on the board and still nowhere close.

edit: could be played on 6th to 8th fret on low e string
Carl Posted - 03/21/2005 : 11:26:51
Thanks Levitated, although I really should have made myself clearer(d'oh!), I know those bits by heart; It's the funny little string bends in the background and the muted notes that are probably played by both Joey and Frank(there's obviously some overdubbing going on).
Levitated Posted - 03/21/2005 : 04:27:03
You mean Joey's part?
This seems to be pretty accurate:

Those little guitar noises, etc, in the outro to No.13 Baby always bug me, I'm not sure how they're played....
Levitated Posted - 03/20/2005 : 18:07:19
haha I don't know what he plays, sorry. I'd love to see more Joey tabs.
Just try to play some noisy notes, like if you were playing live. :)

Thanks a lot Levitated! It's a real pleasure! :D

Do you know Joey's part, the lead thing he does in the ending (I am speaking of the studio version)? Or in which key he uses to play?
Levitated Posted - 03/18/2005 : 08:21:37
I can be wrong but here it is anyway:

Intro:
E G# A B

Verse:
E A A# A

Chorus:
same notes as verse but palm muted I guess

Ending:
E G# A B A# A

also just incase you weren't sure, C means play a C major chord, D means play a D major chord.
frank black conspiracy Posted - 01/31/2005 : 11:00:52
it does indeed

why there's two / i don't know, but if you listen to the song, you can here it. one strum on the C then slide up to D
whoreatthedoor Posted - 01/31/2005 : 09:55:42
As this has become a tab symbol FAQ, I guess C//D (on 21 reasons) means a slide from the C barre chord to D, am I wrong?

Do you think the guitars are either tuned up or played with a capo on 1st fret? (like the Happening/Havalina)

That way they're both in the key of D.

Just a thought.

In a place they say is dead
in the lake that's like an ocean

beneath reflections in the fountain
the starry sky and utah mountains
they are swimming happily
can't you see
a life that's so sublime
