Hello,
If someone out there has figured out how to play Boom Chickaboom (or just some of it,) PLEASE(,) do not hesitate to post it here!
frank black conspiracy has already contributed with his interpretation of the intro:
E------14--14-------14--14--------14-- B--12------------12--------------12------
E------14--14-------14--14--------14-- B--------------------------------------------- G--12------------12--------------12------
E------14--14-------14--14--------14-- B--------------------------------------------- G--14------------14--------------14------
E-------------- B--9--------- G--9--------bend up and down
Thanks in advance...

This is the opening verse
E C A7 (002223) E*
Play E and C like this:
D) A)----7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7\3-3-3-3-- E)
* this is where I get stuck because can't decide if this 'E' is played open or at 7th fret and a variation.
I could tab what I know but because I'm trying to figure out exactly what the 'E' chord is, there's no point yet.
By the way, I'm using FBF as my source. |

or maybe it's this. think it sounds sweeter...
D) A) E)----12-12-12-12-12-12-12-12\8-8-8-8--

A7 - (575685)
E* could be - (12 14 12 13 12 12)
oooh, i'll let you decide which sounds better
[EDIT sorry, some tab wrong. not now] |

Hey, good job fbc! I don't understand what you mean by this though: E* could be - (12 14 12 13 12 12)
Yeah, I'm using FBF as my source too...

Sorry Aurora, they're the frets where you put your fingers..
(e)12 (a)14 (d)12 (g)13 (b)12 (e)12
It's just a variation of the F shape barre chord but played on the 12th fret making it E.
I'm on the case, with a few interruptions, so this thread won't die and disappear into oblivion, we will get it worked out eventually.
And a question? Have you seen the Northern Lights? One of my dreams. |

Oh, thanks for clearing that up for me.
No, i haven't. Unfortunately... Why do you ask? Because of my username or because of my geographical location? |

Think I finally nailed a pretty rough version. The 'e' and 'd#' chords are variations, but don't know their names, e7? I dunno. Use and abuse if you don't already know the song. Let me know how wrong I am.
Riff 1:
e]----12/14---14-----12/14---14-----12--14-- / = finger tap on b]----12--------------12---------------12-------
e]----------14--------14----------14----- b]-------------------------------------------- g]----12---------12----------12----------
e]----------14--------14----------14-------------- b]-------------------------------------------9---- g]----14---------14----------14------------9----bend these two
verse:
e]----(0)----(0)-----3-----(0)-----(0)-----(brackets just b]----(0)----(0)-----2-----(0)------0------show what Frank don't g]----(7)----(3)-----2-----(7)------7------play on the first verse. d]----(6)----(2)-----2------6-------6------Play and leave out a]-----7------3------0------7-------7------which ever notes e]----(0)----(0)-----x-----(0)------0------you like after this)
ch]----e------c------a7-----e------e--
Repeat twice then
e]-----3------3----- b]-----3------3----- g]-----4------4----- d]-----5------7----- a]-----5------7----- e]-----3------5-----
ch]----g------a-----
*Back to Riff 1* then
chorus:
e]-----0------3------5---------------------------0--- b]-----0------3------5---------------------------0--- g]-----1------4------6------7--\--6--/--7-------7--- d]-----2------5------7------6--\--5--/--6-------6--- a]-----2------5------7------7--\--6--/--7-------7--- e]-----0------3------5------0--\--0--/--0-------0---
ch]----e------g------a-----e-----d#----e-------e (boom chick a rock a chick a...)
Then he strums 'a' barre chord once then back into verse.
I haven't said how many strums per chord, but they're in the right order, so you can figure out how long each one lasts for. Don't forget. FBF.

I had the beginnings of a tab (we were going to do it for Hey) but lost it when I cleaned out my computer.

frank black conspiracy, you've done a great job! The intro is definitely right on. The rest of it sound pretty accurate to me too... Thanks a million!
-7- -6- -6- -5- -7- -6- -0- -0-
E7 D#7maj* (* That's what it would be called here in Denmark, anyway...)

Hey, that's cool.
Quite happy with how it sounds, but knowing my tabbing attempts, a note or two will be missing somewhere.
And thanks for the chord names. From now that's what they'll be called.
Enjoy playing.

and
e]-----0------3------5------0--\--0--/--0-------0--- b]-----0------3------5------5--\--4--/--5-------5--- g]-----1------4------6------7--\--6--/--7-------7--- d]-----2------5------7------6--\--5--/--6-------6--- a]-----2------5------7------7--\--6--/--7-------7--- e]-----0------3------5------0--\--0--/--0-------0---
Thanks anyway |

nevermind, i just realized you're just using a different font. i thought you had some program for writing tabs or something. it only took me 5 years on this forum to discover you can use other fonts

Oh, it was nothing. Alot of my tabs are 60% wrong but the back bone of the track are always there somewhere. I can't wait to try out your corrections. |

Probos, your little tweaks sound spot on!
And amazing video footage of the Pixies. I think the gig it's from is on one of the DvDs they released recently. |

Another little tweak
Riff 1:
e]----12/14---14-----12/14---14-----12--14-- / = finger tap on b]----12--------------12---------------12-------
e]----------14--------14----------14----- b]-------------------------------------------- g]----12---------12----------12---------- bend
e]----------14--------14----------14-------------- b]-------------------------------------------9---- g]----14---------14----------14------------9----bend these two
floop, I use Courier New for the tabs. |
