I'm not the first to post something about this. Am I? I accidentally discovered this just now. I was clicking Frank Black & the Catholics in my iTunes and I must have hit one of those arrows that take you to the music store. And this came up somehow!! It surprised me.

Posted - 01/30/2006 : 21:03:55 Yeah, maybe The Man will comment on this project some more, seeing as how He's finishin' up with His 25 new songs.
I mean shit, He's the one that started this damn thread.
I'm interested to find out what He's come up with.
We've sure given Him plenty of quality ideas (5 pages, umm, well...it could probably be boiled down to 1 full page of quality ideas and the other 4 pages of babble, huh!).

If this box set is done by Cooking Vinyl what of a US release then? Will it be Cooking Vinyl or another US label and will it be available to us the same time it's available overseas?

Posted - 02/20/2005 : 21:06:14 Yeah, fbc, it appears that 2005 will be the Year of Frank!
Ain't it great to be alive and to be a fan of The Man.
I've spent the post-SMYT time enjoying the B-sides, compilations and other non-ablum material. I've been able to increase my collection of singles and I'm really enjoying the likes of the following: -"Just A Little", "Remake/Remodel", "You Never Heard About Me", "Pray A Little Faster", "Announcement" from MEN IN BLACK -"Down in the Hole" and "Take What You Want" from EVERYTHING IS NEW.
You know, as fans of The Man's music, we are the lucking ones. Can you think of another band that has been kickin' ass as well and as long as Frank? I can't either.
And, how 'bout Charles posting here on FB.net: Updating us on projects such as the until now unannounced BOXED SET OF THE CATHOLICS, posting help with a guitar tab, holding court here and scheduling chat sessions, and sharing with us the Joy of JACK!
So, I say, let's celebrate and be thankful for all that we have, including the musical genius and generosity of The Man. |

Posted - 02/20/2005 : 05:48:12 Wow Oldman, just reading your post has sent shivers. FB overload. Bring it on! This is gonna be one special year. |
OldManInaCoffeeCan |
Posted - 02/19/2005 : 21:21:20 Well, you know, he has been a little busy with that other band that he used to be (is) in.
But, I agree, it is rather un-frank. Honeycomb One was recorded last March (2004) and still not out yet, and Honeycomb Two, recorded in October (2004) and ready to be released.
However, when it does begin to rain Frank (AND THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT FRANK REIGNS!), it will definitely pour Frank!
Think about it, 2 new Honeycomb albums, a BOXED SET of CATHOLICS, including the two B-side albums of CATHOLICS and DVD with concert and video stuff of the CATHOLICS, and then whatever else he puts out with that other band he was (is) in. Remember, they've talked about a new album, DVD, and 2005 tour.
Oh yeah, and then there's JACK!!!
It looks as if 2005 is going to be a very good year for The Man, and the rest of us UBER FANS! |

Posted - 02/17/2005 : 15:34:08 It's a great time to be a Frank Black fan! In high school my favorite band was the smashing pumpkins and they came out with one album every two years. What kind of bullshit is that?

Posted - 02/17/2005 : 06:18:04 the b-sides compilations are catholic only so I guess the boxset would be too forget those TMBG-shows then what about the live at lowlands festival 2001 I attended that show and the bootleg (more a radio recording, not really a bootleg) sounds great although it misses a few songs but I'm sure the tracks are still in the vault somewhere at the dutch radiostation 3fm

There's a soundboard (or fm) recording from new orleans from the first tour that's pretty good. The Might Be Giants gig must be included as well. If possible, tracks from the 4AD period should be included as well. And the Hello recordings club. And demos and alternative takes are always wanted, and outtakes/rehearsals with the catholics would be great. What about the live tracks from the "i don't want to hurt you" single - any more available from that gig? Get the whole frank black story in the box. Yeah. DVD - fantastic. We are greeeeeeedy.
that stuff would be cool but didn't he say this is catholics only?

Hey FB,
'preciate the update.
Hell yeah, no doubt about it, we need a boxed set with these two AND a DVD with concert and video stuff!
I'm sure that a topic here in the forum requesting good bootleg video stuff "TO BE USED BY THE MAN FOR HIS BOXED SET" would get a tremendous response. I mean, come on, you've been The Man for twelve years now (beginning in '93 with the Orange Album) and according to your gigography here on FB.net, you're King of the Road. There's got to be lots and lots of bootleg videos of your shows.
Thanks again for the update. I look forward to seeing you soon, touring for Honeycomb, perhaps.
OldMan
P.S. And, if I may suggest a worthy Queen of the Road, Loretta Lynn. Not only is she the Queen of Country Music, but she's also the Queen of the Road. I recently read in some of the Grammy news stories that Loretta loves touring, stays out most of the year, and even when she returns home to Hurricane Mills, she can't wait to get back out.
Have you ever considered recording a duet with her? Now that would be a classic! |

Posted - 02/16/2005 : 15:26:02 That is partly great, but i'm a little sceptical about paying for your regular albums one more time... In that case, the box needs plenty, plenty extras - and not only the stuff the uber fan allready has (easytree made that stuff accessible to all, the great wonders of the web). Anyway, you have to make sure to at least include the instrumental opening tracks from the first tour in da box!
