so, instead of a simple "best of" how about a collection of songs which revolve around a certain theme ? like
"FB: the quest for space"
with songs which are about e.t.-planets, yearnings for space and how to get there sooner or later (but no UFO-references !). could look as follows:
1) old black dawning 2) czar 3) places named after numbers 4) big red 5) the marsist 6) kicked in the taco 7) billy radcliffe 8) white noise maker ....??

About Bob Denver, who wanted to go to space. It fits with the theme.

Never really thought about FB themed albums, but have thought about Pixies themed albums you could make. Songs FB does not lead sing on, repeater songs (Into the White, U-mass, Stormy Weather, ect), Spanish Songs, Spelled out songs (Velouria, EID, IBT, ect). Anybody else?

There's PIXIES spelled out in Cactus. Or DAVID, depends on the version.

There are so many space-related Frank songs (especially if you include Pixies tracks) that you'd probably need at least a 2-CD set for that.

When Black Francis isn't singing you hear "P! I! X! I! E! S!" then he starts singing soon afterwards. As Whoreatthedoor mentioned, in the David Bowie cover it spells out "D! A! V! I! D!".

Heh - never noticed that - I just assumed they were spelling "Dress" in Spanish. All these years. Tch.
If we count Pixies songs (and why on earth wouldn't we?): Surely "Bird Dream of the Olympus Mons" is the ultimate yearning for space song
The guy in Motorway to Rosswell obviously had a yearning for Space if you see it from his point of view :-) If you're gonna include the one about getting kicked in the nuts then you should at least include this one !
What's "Lovely Day" about ? |

You could possibly make a compilation of songs about other musicians. Let's see here:
I Heard Ramona Sing Czar The Ballad Of Johnny Horton The Man Who Was Too Loud 85 Weeks
That's just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more.
