Last night at the show in Arizona (which was amazing) I talked to the guys behind the sound board asking who was from Disclive and where I can buy my copy of the show. I was informed that Disclive was purchased about two weeks ago and will now not be recording with The Pixies anymore. It was decided last minute before the show.
This totally sucks. I love the Disclive shows and I especially wanted one from the show I was actually at.
Has anyone heard anything?

That is very disappointing. Hold on those original DL's for a while. Imagine the crazy price people will be willing to pay. I'm not selling, well if the price is gets high enough I may.

what sucks even more is that my buddy i went to the show with was in his stealth taping mode for the distillers. he figured he'd just get a disclive copy of the show, so he didn't bring enough tape and batteries for the pixies (yeah, i know... i wanna kill him, too). anyway, he was able to get about 2/3rds of the show, which is better than nothing, i spose. fuck clear channel.
it wasn't anything about anything |

I can say no more than it appears quite likely that this is true.

OK, it's confirmed that DiscLive is no longer recording the Pixies shows. I can say nothing about them being sold.
Details to come (keep an eye on the news page)...

I don't think DiscLive exists in the sense that you & I remember anymore - I don't think you'll see the Pixies recording with the new DiscLive.

I went to DiscLive, "A subsidiary of Immediatek, Inc. (OTCBB: ITEK)", which led me to their parent company, which left a disturbing impression, through the graces of the following image:
A parent company with something as revolting as that on the very top page of its site can't be good news for DiscLive.
[ADDED] Oh yeah. Here's the scoop:
http://biz.yahoo.com/pz/040412/55624.html
Except, it's dated April 2004. So maybe no scoop?

i take from this that disclive has been bought out by someone with the intent of stealing their technology but not continuing with their service in it's current format. Clear Channel anyone?
very sad to hear for all you yanks.....

clear channel!
The Pixies, who are booking a fall reunion tour with several probable Clear Channel venues, say Clear Channel has already told them DiscLive can't burn and sell CDs on-site. "Presuming Clear Channel's service and product are of equal quality, it may be best to feed the dragon rather than draw swords," says Pixies manager Ken Goes. "Still, I'm not fond of doing business with my arm twisted behind my back."

I say boycott the corporate bastards. Screw their CDs .

even if clear channel bought them out or something along those lines, theres so much money to be made with the realease of live discs, you'd think that money hungry corporations would continue to take advantage of the profit potential... |

Has anybody seen what the mods have posted over on the pixiesmusic board? They're gonna have mp3s from all the shows available for download starting in the near future. Sounds like the worked something out with the band, so this is certainly good news, even though we won't be able to get actual CD's.

Dayana, thank you so much about that news I was getting seriously bummed that I wouldn't get a recording of those shows!!! That's excelent.
Here is an article I found on:http://www.pennymarkets.com/2004/09/penny-stocks-on-otcbb-itek.shtml
I don't know anything about this site, but the article seems legit because it is from Business Wire (part of PR Newswire). Let's hope that there still might be a small chance we can get a hard copy of these shows eventually, too. :)
Thursday, September 09, 2004 Penny Stocks on the Otcbb ITEK Penny Stocks on the Otcbb ITEK: "Moving Records Joins Immediatek's DiscLive in Strategic Alliance; Combined Force Will Dominate Live Disc Recording Market
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 2004--Immediatek (OTCBB:ITEK) announced today that it has formed a strategic alliance with Moving Records of Minneapolis, combining the mass duplication and automation capabilities of DiscLive with the sophisticated mobile audio engineering strengths of Moving Records.
The two companies will coordinate efforts to share technology to create a stronger and more appealing live recording and distribution platform, and will combine resources to service artists and labels, whether in conjunction with a full tour, festival-based performances, or special individual shows. Additionally, the alliance will create a seamless environment of multiple mobile recording and manufacturing rigs so that service can be expanded to meet the demand of this emerging market of live discs available immediately after an event. 'Moving Records is one of the only other recognized pioneers in the space of producing discs immediately after a live event. With their sound and technology experts working together with our DiscLive team, we expect there to be exciting developments allowing us to produce better recordings, faster and more efficiently. This alliance will clearly position the team of DiscLive and Moving Records as the market and technology leader,' said Zach Bair, CEO of Immediatek. Bair also said that the back-office efforts of both companies would be coordinated through Immediatek, creating a more seamless experience for sales, marketing, fulfillment, and e-commerce. Wes Schu"
