What in the world is with the fascination of the reviewer that the Pixies "carry their own beer"? He kept refering to it as if the band and/or Kim were drunk, and that that was possibly why she was smiling and cracking up in the middle of songs. Anyway, according to the band's rider, it's non-alcoholic beer for Pete's sake!
Oh well.
By the way, rita, those are nice pics of the band. :) |

I thought she was somebody's mother.
Someone should kick this guy.
In fact, Kim could easily be my mother.
She is still very pretty, isn't she?

And I think it would be great to have a mother like her...always playing for us! And what´s wrong about mothers? What did he meant with that? I don´t get it! I´m a mother and I don´t feel different from the others! |

I don't think he had anything against mothers. I think he was just saying how neat/odd it is to have a rock icon seem more like somebody's mother rather than the usual female rock icon we're used to dealing with in the mainstreem (Avril Lavine, etc.). More of a specific instance of how the Pixies in general don't seem/look like you're typical rock band. |

Hang on - Kim's drinking NON-alcoholic beer?!? When did she start doing that? With the Breeders she'd appear to be, beer in one hand spliff in the other and unable to comprehend putting either down to play the guitar!

That was my assumption after reading their rider. I still don't see the point of non-alcoholic beer though. Especially considering how most of it tastes!

Saw it in Spin:
"She's on the wagon."
Has to be true if you see it in Spin.
I know how it is to want to feel like I'm drinking but not want to get drunk.
Its called being an alcoholic.
I think one night I drank the stuff all night and then - about 1 AM, I started on real beer. Worked out ok - I wasn't nearly as drunk as everyone - the party ended before I could get totaled. Part of drinking is the act of it - lifting what you believe to be a beer to your lips and taking a big pull off it. If you can somehow forget that you're not going to get drunk (and that it tastes like shit), you can use it and it works. Thats why Kim is using it, I'd say - just to keep the feeling there but not get sloshed. Good luck, lady. We're all rooting for ya.

Several news stories commented on Kim's drink of choice--staying on the wagon wins over taste, I guess:) |

Not that it matters too much, but in calling the reunion "premature" the author says their last album was released "a scant ten years ago" or something like that. Is it really that hard--especially when attempting to use facts to support your point--to just do the math correctly? TLM in 1991. We are in 2004. I believe that puts its release somewhere between 12 and 14 years ago. Maybe it don't matter, but 13 years is an almost 1/3 greater length of time than what the story's author claimed. And frankly, calling a reunion premature, and supporting it with "they only released their last album 13 years ago" (or, since it is closer to 15 than 10, perhaps even "nearly 15 years ago"), just doesn't hold up too well. My nit has been thoroughly picked.

Yeah, I couldn't read the whole thing. It seemed more like a weird blog entry. |
