The Daily Sport,my daily fix for all the important stuff that's happening in the world. They had the 20 somethingest somethings in Rock, and one of them summet about how Kurt Cobain couldn't write a record without feeling like he was ripping off the Pixies

i can see what Kurt means, they were and are that damn good. but dont think he should (if he were here) beat himself up. drain you, all apologies, aneurysm plus many more i dont wanna bore you with ain't half bad tunes. if kurt felt like that, he didnt do a bad job of imitation. and go Daily Sport. A read amongst reads.

Now that we are speaking of Nirvana, their music sounds a little out dated to me. I listen to them every once in a while, was really into them around Nevermind and In Utero, I get bored very quickley. The Unplugged show is the exception. That show is unbeleivable and always will be, but Incesticide and In Utero are just screaming over shitty music anymore.

I think I see what you mean, kinda - Nevermind has a dated production style, very early 90's hard rock. I don't neccessarily agree that the same applies to In Utero though.

I eargerly await the day when we'll get reviews and articles without the obligatory mention of Frank being "egg-shaped" or whatever, and that Kurt Cobain was trying to rip off the Pixies when he wrote SLTS.

Yeah it would be nice for the Pixies to be more to some people than "One of Kurt Cobain's favourtie bands"

I prefer Incesticide over Unplugged anyday, sure it was good but unplugged is for yuppies and other people who bought nevermind. In Utero and Bleach are my favourite, but i only listen to nirvana bootlegs these days, so much better sounding than the albums, i think.

In Kurt cobains biography Ken Goes is interviewed and explains how kurt was a student of the pixies 'not like the fans u get at the stage door.' Kurt called him up in london to ask him to manage nirvana and all he could talk about was the pixies. And was too embarassed to meet frank!

Daily Sport...Pixies Exposure...I was worried this might involve semi-nudity. I couldn't stomach that!

maybe....
but it's not like they played lot's of nevermind songs that night to please those fans. I think it's a pretty darn alternative set they played that night. With all those covers and stuff, meat putters.....
not for the faint of hearted nevermind buying yuppies

Stop trying to be so "cool" about all this, and "oh, i hate production". Listen to the songs, Nevermind has some great songs on it, and you can still Rawk to it. Just because it became popular with everyone, doesn't mean its a bad album.

And all the "official" "bootlegs" sound crap. Get the live shows in trading as well as the outtakes, they are much better quality.

And as for the live shows being better than the studio albums, well it depends. Shows with better mixing like the Roma and the U4 do capture the live show a lot better than others. But then Albini's mixing is f-ing great.

Just get off your damn high hourse......
