since the ftp is dead and many people still want the stuff that was in it (like the tribute albums), i thought it would be a good idea to create a chat room in soulseek for forum members to meet and swap files. the name of the room is: Frankblack.net
soulseek users already know how to join. new users will have to download and install the soulseek client from here:
Cool, we're were five this saturday, chatted with pixiesteve, offerw, and chickenwiz2heads and Badronald. shared some stuff, and listened to our own music.
I've been in and out of there today. Nice chatting with you guys. The best part was getting to listen to some of Remig and Pixiesteve's covers.I enjoyed those and if anyone bumps into those two on Soulseek you must have a listen.
for those interested my nick is the same as here. when in send me a msg and i'll add you to my list. anyway browse my files and dl what you want (just try to keep it at one folder at a time in order to allow other people to dl too.) tre what's exactly the problem? you can't install slsk, can't get to the room or else?

I have slsk installed but I think it might be a problem with the instalation, It opens, lists rooms with over 20 users, then as soon as I get the list to expand the whole thing crashes and locks me out, so basically I can't find the room or get to it because it craps out on me.
i see. it seems that there is a problem with the room refresh function, that makes slsk freeze. try refreshing and wait the thing to restart by itself. it works for me most of the times

last night slsk crashed and for some reason it won't let me use my nick and it lost my friends list. so my new id is mun chien andalusia. those who had started dling stuff from me, send me a msg and i'll add you in my list again.

got it.... when I refreshed it looked as if it had crashed but was just taking its time.... where is everyone? I have bumped into SpunXtain a few times on soulseek, just randomly which was cool.
Just the good ole boys, never meaning no harm, that all you ever saw been in trouble with the law, since the day they were born
I'm sorry, this is partly off-topic, but... is there a way to save your user list in Soulseek? I haven't found any reference to this on their forums. I'm certainly going to reformat my hard drive soon, and I would like to know if there is an alternative solution to writing down every username and then entering them all again manually...

Take this rock and shake it 'til it bleeds.
i'm afraid that writing down is the only solution. happened to me more than once. a turnaround is to screenshot instead of writing your userlist but you will always have to type it in order to add users back, once you reinstall slsk.

Ah well. Life ain't easy when you're lazy. Thanks!
Another question: I have come across an 11-track Pixies bootleg named "Hang On To Your Ego". I haven't seen it referenced anywhere on the Web - anybody know where/when it's from? I would assume all the demo tracks on there are the ones that are already on "Rough Diamonds", which seriously diminishes the interest of the other boot. The only track on "Hang On To Your Ego" that doesn't seem to be on "Rough Diamonds" is the live version of "Gouge Away" with Eric Drew Feldman.
well i'd like to know too. absolutely not a factory-pressed bootleg. i have that one for ages but i never got any info about it. the fact that the guy i took it from had named the folder "hang on to your ego - rare stuff" indicates that most probably it's a compilation made by someone. my guess is that if you have enough time to listen to all the "official" boots you will find everything. "rough diamonds" is definetely THE best bootleg as long as pixies are concerned. 80% of the real rare stuff are in there. the rest is mostly taped shows.
