Who wants to play? I did this a few years ago on a mailing list and it worked really well. It’s as simple as you create a list of people who are interested in swapping mix cd’s and then you swap your personally created cd with others.
Now, with this being a frank site, the mix cd’s cannot contain any material from said artist, or for that matter the pixies either, but can contain anything else.
So people interested simply reply to this message and once enough people have joined, a list will be compiled with everyone’s mailing addresses which will be sent to all interested parties and the creating and sending of the cd’s can begin.
To make sure all the people on the list will actually go through with said swap, please contact the person you want to send the cd too before you send it to confirm that they’re going to send one in return.
Now the game is open to anyone, everywhere, and people are free to choose how many swaps they are willing to do because if too many people want to swap, the costs involved with postage just get a bit silly. But for me personally, I’m going to make 5 copies of my mix cd and limit it to that. Now if no-one wants to play the game, I’ll just have to give the bastards away.
Anyone interested?

count me in. how much does it cost, exactly, to send a cd anyway?

Bumble – postage in the UK is pretty cheap. Everything’s done on weight and cds don’t weight that much. Probly £1 postage max.
Door – of course Spain is included. As I said – anyone from anywhere can play.

oh, but overseas postage is a bit more - maybe double it i spose.
but yeah, there will be a cost invloved in playing the game, but is minimal compared to the possible returns

I wouldn't think artwork would be needed.
...or even a jewelcase.
-
To ease on postage you could just send the disc and a sheet w/the tracklisting, right benji?

yeah, no jewelcase required, and just a printout of the tracklisting. but of course you can send it in a case one if you want. mine will be sent in those thin ones just cause i don't want to keep 'em. maybe

I'll join in in a couple of months when I get my new PC with fancy pants CD burner.
For the record, a jewel case and CD in a jiffy bag usually costs 42p postage, maybe 30p for the bag.

Benji, you are a frickin genius. This is the best idea I have heard since Noah's Ark. Count me in, I don't have a CD burner but I will use my mates. I am THAT excited!
How is it decided who we swap with? Some people may end up not having anyone to swap with (like me).

So, should we post the tracklistings to the discs anyplace?
Might be kinda cool to see the choices of the folks you're not swapping with.

sounds good. maybe a quick webpage/site someplace rather than clog up the board? unless we specifically wanted it to be an fb.net thang? also i'd like people to get my mix cd not knowing the tracklisting in advance, to stop them getting curious and downloading tracks or being put off by people's opinions?

I prefer to keep tracklists privately, even after getting it. Come on, it should be a surprise!!!

I agree with the others: no posting of tracklistings before sending. Once people have received the discs it might be fun to post everyone’s listing on the forum just incase anyone here is interested in seeing what they missed out on.
OK, So it appears we have got the list of people who are interested (and can do cd’s and do them now). We have: benji (UK) - 8 cd's burned whoreathedoor (Spain) Broken Face (US) ObfuscateByWill (US) bumblebeeboy2 (UK) Homers_pet_moneky (UK) Tre (UK) the thing (UK) rita (Portugal) VoVat (US)
So as it stands we have 10 people – so 9 discs each if we send out to everyone on the list. I have no problem sending overseas, but if anyone does, best speak up now and we’ll mark you down for less swapping.
So if everyone interested can email me through the forum with their full postal addresses, I can compile them all and send them out to everyone. I’ll aim to send out addresses by the weekend so if people want to begin compiling their cd’s as of now we can hopefully begin mailouts next week.
Sound good?
EDIT: added the thing to our list EDIT2: added VoVat and rita to the list

I'll accept tapes, Mel. So, in my opinion, you should be in.
But, sending tapes will be probably more expensive than finding a friend with a CD recorder.

Brian, Those are the only rules I can think of. Apart from the single cd rule and the no posting tracklistings prior to receiving the cd’s.
what about: maximum 2 tracks per artist? Sound fair?
