Now I do as I please and lie through my teeth. Someone might get hurt but it won't be me. I should probably feel cheap but I just feel free and a little bit empty. No it isn't so hard to get close to me. There will be no arguments. We will always agree. And I will try and be kind when I ask you to leave. We will both take it easy. But if you stay too long inside my memory, I will trap you in a song tied to a melody and I will keep you there so you can't bother me. |

Um, you've got me Mel, I dunno.
You could go to the World's End pub in Camden, and the Underworld underneath it (funnily enough), and I also like the Hope & Anchor on Upper Street.
There's a bunch of cool looking clubs around as well, but I'm not really the man to ask there. Restaurants maybe, in North London at least. Ask Scarla O as well, he's a man about town.

Ya, all those clubs are supposed to be good, but I've never been to any of them. Someone mentioned a jukebox in a different thread. If you want you can visit the pub with London's Finest Jukebox (tm), the Boogaloo in Highgate, with it's "nothing under ten years old" policy. You also have a pretty high likelihood of seeing Shane MacGowan in there.

that made me ever so sad (frank skinner show) but I loved his false teeth, that cracked me up, his little plea to the woman he loved and lost was pretty heartfelt and straight though, you don't often see that sort of thing anymore

I can't believe I'm going to miss both Floop and Rita's visit to London.
I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but it was just some b*stard with a torch, bringing me more work. |

all of the above
Although I think they're predicting a "mild" yuletide this year, scarf and jacket a definate good idea.
Mild isn't all that mild really.

hmm I had to look up London, low was 5 degrees C, high was 11 degrees C average is 7.
It's predicted to get colder by the end of the week with an average temerature of 3.
Bugger, just looked at the predictions for up north, 1 degree C and 80% preciptiation. Stupid weather forecasting.

thats what 27 degrees C?
How dreadful for you, it must make the snuggly jumper wearing intolerable!
Psh warm weather is bad for you anyway, sunshine ruins my pale and interesting vibe. Well, the pale vibe anyway.

Difficult one El Floopo.
Depends what you're looking for. If giant ferris wheels are your bag then the London Eye can't be beat. Camden High Street and market are hugely fun if you like looking at interesting people and experiencing a bit of life. Maybe take in some theatre? The West End rivals Broadway, whether you like a musical or a bit of fringe, plus there's any number of great places to eat around Soho, Covent Garden and Piccadilly. If purely eating is your bag, Brick Lane is great fun for curry, and there's some good pubs/clubs in the area.
There you go, sights/people/culture/food, take your pick.

i didn't even see that post. sorry cheeseman.
i'm staying in SoHo, i believe (i'll have to double check)..
as for what i'm looking for, i'm open to everything.. but i want to check out some unique London stuff, that you can only check out in London. eating and drinking (a lot) is a given.

Sorry floop, I'll refrain and I have little addition as I tend to only go to London for gigs and recently to visit people who for -god-knows-what-reason- have decided to move there.
I can however second Cheeseylees motion on Camden, I do like the markets and the strange shops and the strange people. There used to be a fantastic bookshop down thataways but I have a horrible feeling it has closed down.
What I will give London however, cracking porn shops, hours of amusement.
What about Tate modern?

OK, first up it's Soho, not SoHo, thats New York.
Soho is Chinatown/Red Light, so I don't know if this is anything unique. But I'd definitely recommend Brick Lane for eating - its right in the now Bangladeshi quarter, and the curry flows. Occasionally literally, but not too bad. You can also get to Old Street and Shoreditch within walking distance which is great for pubs - my favourite is the Legion on Old Street: kind of 80's themed, but none the worse for it.
Camden is also very London - its where the punks hang out, and there's a ton of good venues and shops round here. Careful of the clothes shops, I've come out of them before having bought things, with no recollection of having done so. But traipse round the markets and up the High Street, its all good fun.
The London Eye is a bit tourist-centric, but it gives an amazing view of the town, it really is spectacular. I'd like to try it at night sometime.
I guess those are my top three.

Well, I don't know if museums and stuff is your bag but this is what is on at tate modern over christmas
http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/frank/
And if you fancy catching some british live comedy Bill Bailey (who I do love) is playing quite a few dates:
BILL BAILEY Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue Dec 27th - Jan 1st
Play wise 'One flew over the cuckoos nest' starring Christian Slater is on at the Gielgud Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue..
There are a lot of musicals on over this time too and your usual panto action. I haven't looked at gig information.
Sorry for making london digs in your thread floop
