I am looking for software where I can burn my own MP3 player discs without having to rename all of the tracks with 01,02,03 etc.to keep the album in order. Any suggestions?

I got an MP3 car stereo and it takes entirely too long to make these discs. I need software that will pull the album information and keep in order and allow me to burn MP3's in folders in order

How come I find this interesting!

What I know is, I've resigned myself to the 01, 02 because I'm used to my piece of software (Creative PlayCenter 3).

The ID3v2 tags (maybe earlier versions?) as is used in Creative Media Source (not sure if you have to have a Creative product to install this) include the track number.

I wonder if you can simply sort the tracks by date?

What software do you have?

Can someone write something more than just subjective about the quality of various mp3 compression programs/engines?

I have two players an old version Creative Jukebox that I put an 80g hard-drive in and a 15g Dell DJ (which I received as a present), so I'm not too interested in other compression schemes if I can't use them, although I would be interested in knowing more about them.

Thanks everyone!

You mean an Mp3 CD-R disc?

-

You can just iTunes to burn mp3 discs in whatever order you specify.

I've never had to rename or number tracks.

I have an Alpine CD/MP3 player in my car. I use the "01 02 03..." numbering method as you describe. If you want to hear the tracks in order, it's either that or rename the songs alphabetically (a la the first Catholics album)! That is a limitation of my player, but I can't imagine newer players being any different unless they support the "Track #" tag in ID3.

I use a freeware app (for Windows) to clean up the titles and ID3 tags. You can get it here:

Actually I use an earlier version of this, from when it was called "MP3 Renamer." I like the old version better. There are probably better utilities out there but I have become accustomed to this one.

Wait, wait.

I thought Adaptec Easy CD Creator had an auto-rename thing?

I used it a couple of times and it loved changing file names.

If it does I cannot find it. What version are you using? Where did you find this feature?
