Oh, wow.

Unfortunately, I think a lot of people in the United States have an IQ under 50.

Actually I do understand that people vote for Bush, because he is an idealist and many people tend to be idealistic too. There are people who would like to see the world without terrorism, without drugs, without communism, without poverty, without diseases, etc etc.
These people really believe that this world can be achieved, just like in an (american) movie with a happy ending. (The idea of the Utopia) If you vote for Bush than this can be arranged they think.

However:
war on poverty
war on drugs
war on communism
war on terrorism

All these wars have never been won and will probably never be won, due to fact that it is all seen to much in a black and white point of view(good and evil), the approach to the problem is often wrong as well. However idealists (both political right and left) tend to have a "tunnel view" and do not see or do not want to see the complexity of it all.

that`s my opinion about it.

I guess I'm somewhat of an idealist myself, in some respects. Really, though, do any of those "wars" you mentioned even have a set goal? It's not like any of those things can just be eradicated.

Well, I also didn`t say that being a idealist is something negative. I only tried to answer why people vote for Bush jr. I think it is good to set idealistic goals, however how to achieve your targets is another thing.

I think Bush` approach towards the problem of terrorism is a wrong approach, because it doesn`t address to the causes of one becoming terrorist. Secondly there is too much bloodshed involved, something we have seen already in war against communism in Vietnam. Now I come to the reason why people with an high IQ still vote for him , while it is quite clear that his approach will lead to a neverending negative cycle of violence. People still believe in his approach to handle the terrorism problem. For example it is a well-know phenomenon that also in communist countries the intellectual part of the country still believed in the governments way of acting and supported them until the end, even when it was clear that scandals, corruption, severe suppression took place. People still wanted to believe in the idealistic ideas and donot want to see that things are going the wrong way. Thats what I see as a sort of "tunnel view", keep looking to the end, but don`t look aside.
This can both happen in communist countries and democratic counties as well.

By the way politics really set goals on the war against poverty such as eradication of malnutrition, increase of the average income per capita to a fixed number. Increase the percentage of electricty coverage, vaccination coverage, sanitation coverage.
In the war against terrorism funny enough I don`t see any targets set. I never heard Bush say: I want the level of terrorism decreased to 10% in 2008!

Vaguely related to this topic, I found a funny story on imdb.com today:

<<Golden Girl Causes Terrorist Scare in Boston

Golden Girls star Bea Arthur sparked a security scare at Boston's Logan International Airport earlier this week when she tried to board a flight with a pocketknife in her handbag. The actress, 81, was about to board a Cape Air flight when a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agent discovered the offensive article in her belongings, which is strictly forbidden on airplanes since the September 11th attacks. A fellow passenger says, "She started yelling that it wasn't hers and said 'The terrorists put it there'. She kept yelling about the 'terrorists, the terrorists, the terrorists'." After the knife was confiscated by TSA officials, the funnywoman pulled out a key ring from her bag and told the agent it belonged to the "terrorists", before throwing it at them. As she boarded the plane, the Emmy-winning star told the TSA employees, "We're all doomed." A spokeswoman for Cape Air says, "Miss Arthur was cracking jokes and was a real character." >>

Average spanish people (And before Michael Moore docs) are pretty sure you american guys are all stupid, but I didn't think so, probably 'cause I visit these international forums and read some of your opinions. However, if you say that, maybe I should consider my opinion again.

Well, that would seem to be an indication that many Spainards aren't very smart. Anybody that can harbor such prejudices aren't too bright.

I'd say to be fair it's actually an international assumption! the amount of times in a week I hear the phrase "fucking americans" is almost unbelievable, or "only in america" thats another...

Not my feelings I may add, I usually at least have to know a person before I totally dismiss them as being one thing, it's why I don't get racism, sexism and homophobia, or any other subgroup discrimination if a persons a twat it doesn't matter how you categorize them, they're a twat. Tre's world segregates into twats and not twats. I find it's simpler that way

I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.
