Hey all. I'm leaving for China on Thurs. and wanted to say goodbye in case I'm not online too much. I haven't been posting too much this summer anyhow, but still I thought I'd say bye. Also, I want to ask for travel, teaching, language advice. Any last minute things you know of that people tend to forget?
Stuart, how's it going? Are you still going to be in China when I get there? If so, we'll be the only two active members from China. Anyway, do you have any other advice for me? Teaching advice or general culture-shock guidance?
Thanks all; I'll try to keep up with the boards (so this post might end up being pointless).
glacial: if you read this, do you have aim? I'll probably be going aimless and email-less for a while in favor of writing actual letters, but I'd like to know how you're doing and how the new kid is.

Take me, break me, tell me a good one and maybe I'll cry

Hey man, that would be great. I would have asked but I didn't want to creep you out asking for your home address. Letter writing is a lost art and I think I'd like to give it a shot on a grand, sustained scale. You can email it to me at realmeanmotorscutor@email.com

Yeah, best of luck in China. How long are you to be gone?

Probably pretty obvious, but how about the Great Wall?

Yep, I plan to check out the Wall. I think I'm about a stone's throw from it, so I should be able to go there a few times if it's worth it. I want to travel to Japan to see this island off the coast:

Oh, I got your email glacial. Thanks, I'll add it to my address book.

Crouton, that Island seems like something you'd be interested in. Maybe you should write a song about it. You didn't tell me about it, did you? I think it was another friend.

What province will you be in? My acupuncturist and his wife are from China. I'm sure they would love to offer you advice on traveling, language (Mandarin), customs, etc.
I won't get a chance to talk to them before you leave, but please feel free to email me or chat me on AIM if you'd like to try to correspond. Good luck and bon voyage!

I'm going to California and then straight to China by plane, of course.
Thanks apl. I'll be in Hebei Province. I'll put you on my Buddy list! Thanks for the offer :)

realmean, I just ran across this website http://ziboy.com/ in a very random way.
You might want to check out his photography and paintings. I'm riveted. He is also a photo journalist for a news agency in Beijing.
