8/11 at the 930 club...Anyone else go to this show?
It was fucking amazing...one of the best shows i've seen. They sounded great and the energy was genuine and off-the-wall. Can't write too much about it right now (I'm at work) but Thurston was standing on top of his amp at one point...
they played old stuff too!! i'll try to list it all: -Eric's Trip -Schizophrenia -Drunken Butterfly -Expressway to Yr Skull (closer w/ feedback ending...classic!) -another one off of 'Sister' w/ Kim on vocals (forget the name, "let's go for a ride somewhere...you make me feel so good, you make me feel so crazy"...) what's it called?
they played almost everything off of Sonic Nurse, and it sounded amazing. My girlfriend is not even a SY fan, and she loved it. it was sold out and packed. Great sound, great crowd, incendiary set, good mood all around...shows like this remind me why good rock music is my obsession. |

I can't remember the name of this song either, but it's not from Sister. I think it's from Bad Moon Rising.

you might be right about that, Denis... it's been a long time since I've listened to either album. |

Well, Google tells me I'm wrong. It's called Pacific Coast Highway and it's indeed from Sister. Damn. It used to be my favorite SY record, but for some reason I don't listen to them anymore.

I WAS RIGHT WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOO j/k.
i stopped listening to them for a long time as well, just recently started getting back into their albums (spurred by the release of the excellent Sonic Nurse). and coincidentally, they rolled into DC for a show at this same time. I'm trying to move my band in a more noise-rock direction(even though I know that someone, maybe you Denis, said that quiet is the new loud.) well, noise and quiet can both be poignant if used in a certain context...
Last night showed me that SY are masters of taking chaotic noise and sculpting something beautiful out of it. They are always a musical inspiration for me. |

I recently got back into them too with the release of Sonic Nurse and the DVD. I didn't end up catching them in Van (conflict with hockey game), kinda wish I did though, that's why I'm skipping my game tonight in favour of TMBG.

I'm going to see them next Saturday! I too haven't been listening to them for a long time so I hope I know all the songs.
