aweosme song - wish they'd bring it back to the setlists now, to its rightful place as the show opener
3rd Annual Australian Frank Black Countdown August 2003 - all involved parties rank EVERY released FB song from FB self/titled to the present - average ranks are calculated - beer (or suitable substitute) is added (mostly in drinking-game form - ie. rate a song well below its average and you drink a punishing amount), then sit back and enjoy a day of frank black....the only problem is quite often memory of the top songs is somewhat limited the next day |

Brillant song! I had the Bossanova cassette for years and got the cd 2 or 3 years ago. Neither has the lyrics for that song (well the cassette has none), and only recently saw the proper lyrics for it, I wont go into the lyrics that I had in my head for years, but hearing it now gives me a great thrill to know what he's actually saying. I'd love to hear them play it live.

A great way to kick off Bossanova. Yeah, it's after "Cecilia Ann," but I see the first three songs as parts of a whole. Not that they don't stand well on their own as well.
I never could understand the lyrics. My best guess was something like "For miles and miles, I wait."

You have to read the "Oh my Golly!" lyrics around the net. Pretty funny if you speak spanish.
And about that song. It's not one of my faves, but definitely, it's the best song to gain audience attention. If they didn't love you after playing "Rock Music", you should start considering to take your guitar and go home, Frank.
About the lyrics, I always believe he said something like "Come on, Come on, I wait". Nothing to do with the real version.

I used to think it was:
come out, come out, come out to play come out, come out, come out to play come on now you're letting go hey you want me introduce me come out, come on, lets play slag
of course now I feel foolish... At leaast I got the slag bit right, it made more sense when I was younger and had only heard the song a few times..

I had :
Jump out, come out, come out Jump out, come out, come out Jump out! Oh what a way to wave your gun Hey your stupid Hey you shoot me Sunday!
Profoundly stupid. But then again what take does everyone have on the interpretation of the actual lyrics, love at light speed?, just my silly notion, but I like my Sunday bit. Now you know why I did'nt want to share my lyric's .

i always thought it sounded kind of out of place on Bossanova and would have fit really well on Doolittle. Great screaming song though!

Yeah, it's definitely different from the general vibe in Bossanova. In a way, though, that's what's cool about it.

Awesome song. Like a kick in the ass after hearing the hard (but melodic) version of "Cecillia Ann". Awesome guitar by Joey. Frank's never sounded more agressive.

I just recently saw a sleezy commercial for a F1 happening on Belgian tv (I guess it was for the Francorchamps race) and Rock Music was used as backgroundmusic. I felt so violated I had to take a shower! |

Great powerful song by them. I had to listen to the song on loop 20 times before I understood the lyrics. I just didn't know what he was saying when he said "encatuse".

Is it really appropriate to refer to the "song of the day" when there hasn't been a new one in over a week?

good point vovat. that's fuckin bullshit. i tried to send a personal email to the song oracle to point this out but the oracle didn't leave their address on their profile.
on the other hand though, there is a bit of a dilema because once all the songs are done the pixies will have to release a new track each day in order to maintain the integrity of the song oracle.
p.s. i really like rock music.

for my cover of this song (a "Hey" reject b-side) I settled on "and could you see?" as the interpretation
"Encatuse" is nonsense It's not "me conoces"...just listen hard It just sounds most like "and could you see". But I could be completely wrong
Who fucking cares? This is arguably one of the best Pixies songs ever and they better start playing it as the opener to every set. this song and "The Sad Punk" have been horrendously ignored throughout this whole reunion... |

i agree up to 300 %. "the sad punk" is the archetypical pixies song, imo. it has everything - screaming, silence, melody, incredible lyrics & storyboard, dynamics as never heard again or before and so on and so on. especially this song and "trompe le monde", the song as the whole album, actually, have been heaven sent.

ex-ACTLY. The Sad Punk is a very definitive Pixies song...
when I was still in the midst of being turned on to the Pixies, I heard the usual well-known ones ("Monkey", "Wave", etc.) and then I heard "Trompe Le Monde" (the song.) It was like an epiphany. |
